Hiya xfmat.Twas i that posted original post on Kenneth Wilson, thanks for replying.Looking at a photo i have of E665 OWT its apparent she was very short wheelbase.I cant remember ever bobtailing any where but it must of been rough.I also recall that she had 15lit 320 ■■■■■■■■■■ speed fuller and 3 stage Jake, the last a marvelous bit of kit. There where lots of guys from Knottingley depot, also Louth,Tuxford and Chirnside depots. I guess most of them made that much money working for K.W their all retired to sunny climes Regards P.S That should read 14lit
Heyup Rod, hope ya well old mate. On a couple of occasions I loaded malt at Shobnall Maltings in Burton on a Friday and there was usually 2 of us so one full rig and one trailer were loaded then left in the middle of the park at Bass and we came home solo and returned on Sunday just after dinner to travel down to Bass in Alton ready to tip first thing Monday morning. I always preferred to drive because the passenger seats weren’t that comfy whereas the drivers seat were well sprung. I was with old Mick Warrington one weekend (lived near Roecliffe Boroughbridge) and he was shocked that those Fodens could do 75mph upwards especially as he had one. I was in Dennis Brents for a couple of weeks at the time and I also discovered that Eric Bensons 8 wheeler blower with the 300 Cat went off the clock easily because he was well in with the fitters at a workshop in Telford
