On a road and I NEEDED (had to take…low bridge) the next right turn. Straightforward right turn except there is a car parked opposite the junction and there is a keep left blue sign bollard. Impossible to keep left without wiping the car out turning right so I went right of the keep left sign No traffic coming other way at all so didn’t cause any problem.
Opinions please - no one in the car, no where to pull up and wait…had to make a decision there and then and I used my own discretion doesn’t always work
Job done, right decision. When I did my PCV training we were told to use the “wrong side” if you needed to.
When I’m teaching car drivers, there is some flexibility IF, and only IF, there is no alternative.

sounds like the car was illegally parked opposite the junction, you had to make a decision quick,if you had banged on the horn five minutes nobody would of come out but if you had give it a crack with the back end the owner would of appeared out of nowhere

Not relevant, before they started using yellow paint, there is a law about parking within a certain distance of the junction.
Never been revoked Car’s fault

ah rule 224 HWC
or
Laws RTA 1988, sect 22 & CUR reg 103
still not supposed to pass a keep L or R sign though unless indicated by someone directing traffic…

I quote Rule 224 from the current Highway Code, but can’t see the relevance here:
“224
Electric vehicles. Be careful of electric vehicles such as milk floats and trams. Trams move quickly but silently and cannot steer to avoid you.”

If there was an issue or incident and the police attended, The police officer would have taken the easy option and arrested the truck driver .
I drove the wrong way up a one way side street in Manchester once. Drove in the right way to reach my delivery point, then when I came to leave couldn’t get around the tight corner because of scaffolding that had been erected on a building. I then tried the other way out but couldn’t get round that corner either because of a row of parked cars (legally parked at meters). After a bit of head scratching I just went back out the way I came and got away with it as no one came.
I suppose I should have really called the police for proper assistance but I chanced it & got going. Sue me.
