You wimp colin !!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: What sort of driver are you? you think you mixed Stoli? we were tough in them days we drank it neat! glad to see you here Gaz.Kim was shocked to see pic of me with hair

Hi john

Were we tough or daft? Jeez the hangovers i had with straight vodka!!! I was once with a load of betz drivers having a meal and a few sherbets in the back of a betz tilt and decided to go buy another bottle as they had fed and watered me for the day and fell staight out flat on my nose only to get picked upped and brushed down and helped back inside to have another drink!! Had to sail the next day from poti to novorossiysk and believe me it was torture when that boat left the port

Does anyone remember the brit companies pineland haulage or eurohaul that had polish and russian drivers back in the 90s? Used to see them a lot in russia but never knew anything about them as i tried to speak to a eurohaul driver at penza but thats when i realised he was russian!!

think iā€™ve posted before that pineland blazed onto the scene in 94 going to take over the job, offices in the city of london blah blah - never heard much of them after to be honest but of course the job was dead for most brits by 98/99 :frowning:

Your right there jj, usual thing though, get in first, make the money and get out before the clowns get in and do the job for nothing, just to make the payments on the truck and so they can be seen driving a big motor and say they been there.
I have seen it quite a few times.
As the price started to drop on the Tengiz work, P.G started planning on getting out, then the A*******e who worked in the office left and started on his own as an "agent " and subbed the work out, (from what I heard) the rate he paid ( WITH NO RUNNING MONEY ) was 2k less than PG paid his subbies and PG supplied his blokes running money!
I did not like the office bloke and never will, I cant take to a bloke who I saw taking running money out of returned envelopes and then the driver getting docked for shortfalls ! :imp: I know it sounds harsh, but I dont feel sorry for these O oners, they knew the score, and thought they could make money and, well we all know the score.

Thanks for that jj i never did know anything about either of them

Was that the crowd with the red MANs UK plates Sov drivers? 1 of my mates bought a reposessed unit of theirs no kms on it & very tidy. I seem to remember them having a mega fridge too the first 1 iā€™d seen.

Fly sheet

Yeah that would be them fly sheet. The trailers i seen them with were all boxes and i dont know what they were hauling. Maybe jj does. What ever happened to inter city with the red trucks as well?

Lord knows what happened to Inter City Iā€™m sure someone on here will know. That Euro Hall you mentioned I think they may still be about, Iā€™m thinking Iā€™ve seen 1 recently white mit yellow & blue markings. Of course I could be going mad  That Pineland crowd always used to see a couple of them together, I also remember seeing 1 impounded at D/NL border it was there for a good while.

Maybe a bit off thread, but as Peter Gilder is mentioned on here alot, can someone please tell me of the other Gilders I see everywhere, Gordon Gilder, runs fridges and livestock, a tanker passed me today but canā€™t remember which Gilder it was , Uncle Tom Cobblerly Gilder, how many are/was there and what is the relationship to Peter, did the originate from Holland?

Inter City Trucks , had a tie up with Richard Ford at some point, because I had a T Reg F10 with Bickenhill Inter City on the door. and what happened to those Inter City drivers that stole ( or so it was said) the tables and chairs from outside a Paris Cafā€™e.

What was the name of the bloke who drove a red 4 series toplinerā– ā– ? he used to tip Minsk from U.K,I used to see him in Zambrow a bit, he just came in had a bite to eat and went, he used to drive at nite, always rushing about, think he had g/friend in Minsk, last I heard he had accident, hed hit a workmans hut at some roadworks in Belarus, any ideas anyone? Also there was a firm running low top Scanias, black and white if I remember correctly, pulling Box trailers, mat one in Grodno one day, helped him sort his paperwork.Dont think he was set up for out there, P cab, tools and sledge hammer, chains etc etc in footwell and single bunk, I dont think Id have fitted in the cab
Dieseldogsix, 4 brothers, Peter, Gordon,Graham and William(william is alot younger than other 3).
Peter did livestock(europe) and fridges (Russia) Now hes sales, Edward is Peters son and does livestock and fridges in his own right, chip off the old block. Gordon does livestock and general and lowloader U.K and Europe. Graham did livestock and general U.K and Europe, not heard much of Graham lately. William does tanker work and a bit of dealing, tractors etc I think, dont realy know alot about him realy.
Their old man had cattle truck(s) in the beginning.
There is a Peter Gilder thread on here, and some of the older drivers might know more, Im a youngster realy  I know they are knocked for alsorts of reasons, mainly by people who heard rumours, didnt know them or wanted to drive a big smart Scania, but couldn`t hack it.But from my experience, Peter a great bloke to work for! I did a few jobs for Graham and Gordon and seemed to be same.

Hi john

The low top scanias would possibly be eagle freight? Used to see them about doing mostly garments IIRC!

Thats the ones Colin.

Dobri Dien Comrades (or something like that!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: )

Have been following this great thread with great interest and the mention of Eagle freight sparked a memory!!

Im sure i remember contacting them about a job, this would have been early 90`s. Were they based in Braintree area? I remember the guy saying that their work was all Russian but you were expected to be away for all of the time. The only time you would come back to the UK was for the truck to be serviced or have its 6 weekly check!! money was crap from what I remember as were the vehicles, old Scanias!!

Could well be totally wrong, wouldnā€™t be the first time!!!

Anyway, an excellent thread, more pics and tales please chaps!!

Eagle are from Ipswich, I remember a few of them Dave Dog, Black Peter are just 2 that I recall. I think the guy who totalled the site hut was Roscoe but didā€™nt know him personally, they used to do loads of hanging from Minsk but would tip anything on the export load. The guy who owned it was an Indian called Viv I think (quite a character by all accounts) I didā€™nt know him myself but I subbed for SLR from Harwich on the same type of work for a long while & the boss their was mates with Viv. They had some nice streamline Scanias & a good crew as it goes. Happy Days loadsa dosh & cheap living

Iā€™m sure they had a driver called Pat too who I think lived in Torquay, he was a sound bloke I recall him clumping his new Streamliner in Minsk hitching up a trailer after a vodka binge evening
