Kasakhstan.Anyone want to start a thread

Colin,
I was the big quiet/shy bloke :laughing:ok, until I was upset by the coppers at the last police post b4 Tengizā€¦
I had a head of hair then too,I think Garys gonna join and put some pics up too, theres some of me and him In St Petersburg,he`d been stuck there about 10weeks before I shipped in,and had orders from PG to make sure he was ok and to take him out on the town to cheer him up,( Think I succeeded  )
I drove N600, the one with the square headboard lites.

john.d.m:
Russanglia/Gilder drivers who did the mine,Tengiz.Axii, Actau,Baku and anywhere in between, and anywhere else PG thought he could earn a crust
Eddie Edwards
Dave Wakefield
Pez? (Ill find out his real name) Gary Pottinger. Irish Martin Charlie Allen Dave Allen (Done few trips then fell out with P.G) Andy Meredith. Eric Pattie (the grim reaper,"were all doomed were all gonna die   ) Mark Paullett. Alan Kendall. Gordon Henderson.(aka Taggart) Me,John Marcus, aka Big John I think there was a Danny too. Just few I can remember at the moment, I know theres alot more as we had 20+ trucks running there, inc subbies was 15 yrs ago now and age catches up with you :frowning: There was few who did a trip and then said "no way never again" first trip I did, I picked the truck up in Holland, bloke had been to Moscow then wouldnt go any furhter, so did change over and came back and left the truck in Poeldijk.
Someone left their truck in Germany, and someone left their truck in Clackett Lane and wouldnt go any further.Same thing always happens in those cases though, the truck and load are ok,but the running money seems to vanish too  :unamused: I picked up 2 subbies on the ferry out of Dover, and they tagged along with me, when we were in the queue at stettin, I got the pics out, one of them wanted to turn back there and then, but they went on and got back ok. Anyone else think of some names? Ill try and remember some more and check with Gary when I chat to him next.

Ryan, Who drove the original N777 ? I think it was either Bob Irving or Huey Bowman but I could be wrong. I had F456, K888,P222. I left in 1999. Chris.

Hi Chris, sorry I am not sure who had it. Iā€™ll need to ask Graham or Dave.

A copy of photos taken by a friend for you.

The big quiet shy bloke!! Sounds like me but i was the small , shy quiet bloke!! Did gary do the mine aswell? I have a photo in the kazak / uzbek border of myself and a PG driver by the name of tim. Do you remember him? I only seen him the one trip in 96 and we had problems at chymkent and had to pay a $700 fine for supposedly being on the wrong road!!! That was the first and only time i have had a gun pointed at me but i was with frank and it was ok as he stuck his finger in the end of the barrell!!! He was driving i was passenger and the gun was going back and forward through his window while i slid down the chair. We ended up under truck arrest for a few days while we sorted it out and i would like to add the embassy in almaty were worse than useless and couldnt care less because we were only truck drivers :smiling_imp:

Yep Gary did the mine.
I can remember a Tim, wasnt he ex owner driver? I was quiet and shy honest....... I did have a slight fracas one day at the last police post before Tengiz, they pulled me over, usual stuff, "over 40 tons going over the 26 ton bridge" was no way round but hey that was Kazak,, well anyway he wanted $20 present, I wouldnt pay it, I wanted a receipt, was me just being awkward realy, I was tottally knackered and slightly grumpy, well he kept shouting no factura, and I told him to go away, I turned to walk out and he grabbed me by the arm, so that was it, I grabbed him by back of head and he had a close up veiw of the paperwork and his desk, the young copper with the stick poked me in the ribs, so I ripped that off him and threw it in the corner, then 2 Kazac drivers dragged me outside so I went and sat on the batterybox of N600 and had a smoke, 5 mins later the young copper brought all my paperwork out and wouldnt come to close to me so stuck it under a stone and went back in, so I picked it up,checked it and left, 2 days later came back by, and I could see the young copper thinking, "oh no not him again, I hope the boss dont want me to stop him" I wasnt gonna stop if the little baton had gone up :imp: Few days later I saw Dave Wakefield and he was a quiet bloke, he asked me "what the ****** ********* happened down there, when he was pulled in there few days later there was about 6 coppers with Aks and alsorts, and all they kept on about was his ā€œbolshoi colleague, crazy manā€ and in the book, there was lists of registartions, M645,M646,P100,P200,N700 etc etc etc with $20 or $ 40 by each number, but N600 had a big red line through it, and from that day on I never got stopped there again.Dunno why realy.

This would be Tim and this trip was the only time i saw him to speak to

This was in the Kazak border hut just before Tashkent. We parted at Atbasar Kazak as the Iveco gave up the ghost. That was my second trip with Frank and on the 1st night of breaking down we were parked between the police post and victors little cafe. Frank decided to go for the toilet in the middle of night then spent the next 8 days in hospital as he had got bitten while out!!
