The train drivers at the Gaz car plant in Nizny Novgorod used to fill truck and belly tank for $150 US.
I used to go there regularly and got to know them, when they wernt busy they used to take me to local bar  or if they were busy we
ed go to their cabin for a vodka or two.Was ok I knew I `d have all day for a kip whilst I loaded, luckily.

hello colin,
i do have more pics, trouble is its all recent stuff, not from years gone by, but if anyone wants to see them, i’ll post them up.
i’ve only been a couple of times over the last 4 years, but a real eye opener, other than the delays at the russian borders, and some of the roads, i don’t mind going there. i’ve just got back from a little jaunt round europe and my laptop, (brand new) has packed up, so on my boys at mo, so if anyone wants a few more pics, they’ll be a delay till they sort my bloody laptop,
cheers neil.
Hi Neil
Be good to see any photos you have of your travels out east to bring back the memories
Reg colin
ok mate, once i get the laptop sorted, i’ll get some up.
This one of my mate kevins photos
I do wonder about these photos and think how easy it is to leave the tarmac every moment of the day. It looks like only the snow drift is keeping the unlucky trucker upright

colin is the main guy to post! come on tell your stories guys! i can not belive no more pics were taken.

Hi John
I think we all took the chance and bought diesel where maybe we shouldnt have but for the price it was to good to refuse!!
I used to like loading at nizny or cheboksary. Once loading at cheboksary davie and i decide to go for a little shopping so dropped the trailer inside the factory and headed into town. Just outside the gate we bumped into the woman who worked in the office so offered her a lift home. She was more than happy so off we go to a block of flats in the middle of a concrete jungle and as we go to let her out she asks us up for dinner and insists we come. Well when in rome they say so off we go a good few floors up ready for dinner. This lady who i may add was twice our age and could not do enough for us that day just because we gave her a lift home. To our standards she didnt have much but she put on a three course meal for us with what she had. That is true russian hospitality at its best.
I made sure to keep a box of milk tray and a bottle of whisky in the cab for my next visit to return the good wishes. This woman didnt have much but she sure made us feel welcome in the hour or so we stayed there.
Some might say why go to a strange flat in the middle of a city i didnt know but thats what made the job so appealing to me the fact that everyday was different.
