If i recall rightly the tobacco factory was Donskoi Tabac which was near the centre of rostov. I loaded filters from dumfries scotland to there twice and so did a few others working for frank white. You used to park over night on the main street outside the factory with an armed guard walking round the truck while you took a stroll down the town having a few pivo. Was a nice little summer run

It would be late 97 and early 98. I think they were going to move to a new factory but at the time we had to drive to the address in the town then follow the customer once we had cleared customs to another destination to unload. Kevin coupe did a few loads for frank to rostov. His first trip in a truck was to the parking in samara to do a change over with me so i could go back to uzbek. He done well going so far for his first trip!!

There were various motors running out there, 1 I remember was a 70`s Mack (?) the driver bought it unseen from the Czech border (iirc)

The eighties John! I dont know if she is still driving but she was just the other year going over to spain aswell i believe.
Yeh kate is still on the road driving for insight logistics doin spain and gib still.
Does anyone remember meeting up with the drivers from lichenstein with the yellow trailers who used to run to alamaty with chewing gum and had an armed guard from belarussia all the way to the delivery point. I met them a few times down near karaganda

what a cracking read this thread is.
i’ve just got back from a few weeks around europe, i thoought going to moscow and athens was a fair way to go, but not a patch on some of the trips on here, and all back in the day, amazing.
it just took us “best part” of 15 hours to clear out of russia, back into finland, and thats in todays “modern world”

Hi all! I just finneshed an story from a swedisch truck magasin,its about a truck driver from sweden and he is on his way to Kemerovo just north east of Novosibirsk.They meet a english driver back hauling from just Novosibirsk he helps out white some routes 
Sorry to say,they only mantion his first name and it was Richard. not mutch to go on but does anny one know who he is■■? The swedish driver is Mats Olsson and he drow for the swedish company called Auto Frakt and they had about ten trucks on the eastern countries. So anny one??

Met a lad at keele services other week and he was telling me about his days running to kazak as a owner driver with a f12 volvo hauling for a dutch oil exploration company he was a geordie guy called gary didnt get his surname im afraid!

The first few trips i did with the boss we were told we had to pay for our diesel up front and dont expect change if we didnt fill the amount we asked for which was ok with frank for a few trips until on our fourth trip he told me to go get my change as we were due about £4 back from the 280 litres. Well i was told a polite nyet by the vendor hiding behind the iron bars at the kiosk so i strolled back to frank to tell him its a no no and he sent me back again to argue my case. Again i was told no with a smile so again i go to frank to tell him the good news!! He says its ok get in the truck and get ready when he gives me the signal to so i do. A minute later i see him walk back to the pumps with his army knife and cut the hoses from top to bottom then calmly get in his truck and tell me lets go on the cb. Well i couldnt stop laughing at what he had just done and made note never to stop there for diesel again on any future trips. Thats the way he was and hated being ripped off even for a few quid. The second time he done it though was even funnier in kazak
