Kasakhstan.Anyone want to start a thread

I heard if you swallow the shower water in the rural parts of Russia and beyond,it could be fatal, due to the spores in the shower head,or the dirty water, you get an infection on the lungs.

and if you eat the cucumbers in Germany you’ll die

common remedies out here are for bad guts - 100+grams of vodka and a good measure of salt & for a cold/flu 100+ grams of vodka with a big helping of pepper.

I saw Lady Lucinda F16 in Turkmen a couple years ago, all registered up on local plates

i was chatting to a patrick white driver (i think the only one) recenty at asten truckstop, a scotsman by the name of alan who now lives in romania, was chatting about going across rus kz etc, does this ring any bells? also i believe alan bremner lives close by to me nowadays (if its the same one who used to do middle east work) a friend of mine is friends with him and his brother was running a tipper locally

I bet there isnt many countries alan bremner has not been to in a truck. The likes of him and m&c jamie could hold an audience all night with their experiences and i for one would be glad to here the tales they have to tell over and over again as much as anyone.

Reg colin

Dam rite, that would be a good night, i`d have a front row seat.

PMSL  Backtracking a bit, I clearly remember about 10 years ago there was a story reported in the press over here that a roadside food vendor in some town (can’t remember which but it was based around an aerospace factory) in the Urals had been jailed for bumping people off who the police were sure had ended up as ‘kebap’ :open_mouth: I cannot find anything on t’internet now though

Come on, legionairs from the shower or eating meat that is human! …what do you guys know?

2 storys i have been told before,

I believe the kebaab story is related to a dish called shashlik (sp?) and was alledgedly sometimes made from human flesh!!  …great drivers story!!

If you want more details then PM Harry Monk, he has done quite abit of Russia and destinatins East and im sure it was he who first posted the Shashlik story.

Would you take the chance and buy a kebab from this vendor below■■? Richard does sto grams not cure everything out that way

That would be 3 star at least Colin.

It looks like there was at least one shashlik stall at it :stuck_out_tongue:

I felt ill in the shower

I know legionella can come from air conditioning and especially dehumidifiers. But look here.

Legionella pneumophila exists widely in nature and is found in bodies of water like ponds and lakes, and also in the soil. The disease is spread by people inhaling a contaminated aerosol of fine water droplets,

Um, no  I think i would stick with a bottle of warm coca cola and all the turkish biscuits he had
All said & done I have had more bad guts from “reasonable” hotel catering than I ever have from chaikanas and some roadside cafes which are next to a stream, flies blowing around and an outside shyter based on a hole in the ground.

There was one of them russian programs on the other day harping on about healthy life-style, they started on about beer and how bad it was…real scare stuff, then they moved on to vodka and all its hygenic virtues .
Mind you there’s a lot of the home-made stuff around in reused bottles and foil caps…on the first mouthful you can normally tell if its a bad bottle…then you get other instances and some quality vodka and sit all night drinking at a birthday or wedding do and wake up the next day like it was nothing.

Hi komatsu450 -the lad you met was pete blundell aka fester,he came from Edolls International to drive for peter. The crash in question was a load of mcewans export bound for the camp in Tengiz.Im sure there were 4 of them running together, one been eddie edwards but the others escape my memory. The wagon in question was a pimped out 113 which prior to pete having it was driven by one eric pattie aka the grim reaper - the only damage incurred was a smashed pigs ear (deflector). He told me a great story of an old ambulance which was on route to an emergency saw the bounty scattered out of his tilt pulled up and loaded themselves to the gunnels with booze then roaring off into the sunset!!!
