The pic of the Daf A828 AJB is at Wroughton Science Museum,Irv the swerve took it there for a truck show one weekend,I couldnt make it,I got a pic from the other side of the one shown

the truck show would have been a festival of transport or one of the early TRUCKEX shows run by my good self.

I remember him driving for Derick Townley years ago, Didn’t know he was on for Thamesdown. He wouldn’t come back there now and drive one of those bloody old DAF’s. :unamused:

Anyone here remember my dad, John Lloyd, who worked for JWQ Swindon in late 1960’s early 70’s ? Bert Carvey was his brother in law.
Sadly, dad died in 1993 aged 57 from bladder cancer. I met Wally Bradford and a couple of other drivers at Bert Carvey’s funeral a few years back. When I was a nipper dad would take me on some of his trips (to Hirwaun) in an old Atkinson that used to jump out of gears whilst trundling uphill then he got a new AEC Dominator. He also sometimes drove the Noddy and a bull nosed Merc a couple of times.

Lurch…I remember your name being mentioned at home several times - nothing bad as far as I can recall. I do remember dad working for Russels - big purple lorries - I seem to remember that they did driver changes near the old bus station in Swindon.

You are right, he did move to Kent in 1976 to deliver tyres to Germany working for his brother in law. They eventually fell out and he bought himself an old Volvo F89 and went on his own for a few years before finishing up working for Norfolk Line who very kindly made him redundant when he was ill with cancer.
