What im attempting to discover is whether Nigel Rice
who founded “Nigel Rice Transport Ltd, Beverley, East Yorkshire” in 1976
Is one and same older “son” of Joseph Rice, founder of Joseph Rice & Sons of Hempstead Lane, Gloucester.

well a quick look and I would say no … the Gloustershire rice was trading for 161 years
without a year of birth I cant be sure but here goes
RICE Nigel G mother nee LUDBROOK was born in the reg months of Sept 1957 in Holderness
there’s no other Rice reg that I can see between 1940 and 1966 that has the same mother of from the same area
I believe Nigel Rice`s father is or was called Bill or William and was a Policeman.

Was’nt there a Joseph Rice transport company from the Liverpool area?,back in the 80’s perhaps?

Probably right there, 5th, but no relation to the Gloucester firm as far as I know.

The Nigel Rice, I knew when I was a child
( Son/Grandson of founder of Joseph Rice & Sons Gloucester ) would have been born about 1948/9 
I was aware that the haulage company founded by “Joseph Rice” in gloucester
Had been trading a long time, but I didnt realised it was that long.

As it now appears highly likely that it purely a conincidence that these two people sharing the same name,
Both being involved in Road Haulage ( even having trucks with simular liveries )…
Are NOT one in the same person.
