All depends on what your looking for
What class
Tippers, flats, tauts, livestock.
Be more specific with what you would like to get a better answer.

Just remember it’s not a high paying area of the country

How far are you prepared to travel from cromer as there ain’t much out cromer way. You’re looking at travelling to north walsham, Norwich, harleston, eye, kings Lynn for the bigger companies you could go to Fakenham but I wouldn’t personally work for them.
Or you’ve got jewsons etc on class 2 if you want.
There is a tanker company in norwich but can’t remember there name off hand and there is a tanker company in north Walsham too.

Dont forget to make allowances for the webbed feet :grimacing:

If you’re in a position to dip your toe in the water before you move, sugar beet season has started. There will be firms looking for extra drivers for the harvest and could let you talk to other drivers on the ground and make an informed decision.

Can’t say which is good and bad for you, but I’ll list a load of firms that people I know work for none of them have an awful reputation, but none are locally known as so good you queue up to get jobs there.

J Medler, at Taverham. Locally known as red Medler, do mostly bricks, but some other flatbed stuff like timber, round wood, steel. They are advertising at the moment.

MA and HV Medler at Marsham, locally known as Green Medler, mostly curtainsider work, they are related to J Medler, but then almost every business is that area is owned by a Medler.

Then there is Saxon, mostly tankers and flatbed work, Drurys and Starlings mostly curtainsider, all round North Walsham and then loads of places with no more than 5 or 6 trucks doing a mixture of agricultural and traction work and almost everybody, no matter how big or small seems to have a couple or trucks on sugar beet over the winter.

From what I’ve been told average pay is around £10ph with slight variations of night out, meal allowances and bonuses across companies.

I wouldn’t bother with sending CV’s just try knocking on doors and take a phrase book some of the bosses are proper Norfolk speakers.

Thanks for all the info

Aha

if you decide to go on your own, whatever you do DONT put the towns name as part of your biz name eg Cromer Trucking . iv noticed that in this region itll seal your fate youll be skint within 2yrs and failed . This applies to pretty much anywhere in norfolk and suffolk. Why is this? lord knows but its a fact

Well after a lot of talking to people and the info on here I don’t think it’s a good move to make the wages are just not what a thought and the cost of living is more compared to the North East
