My limp is in their yard this week, but this is the first thing that I know about it, I know that they are expanding their scope of work, the work from the Heywood depot is being moved to Doncaster, with an expansion of the plant and flowers deliveries from Doncaster, so I’m not sure what they are planning for anyone who gets a job

The Wilkos drivers will be put into there, the advertising is just a tick box exercise.
They don’t want to pay redundancy and have been trying to get them in at other contracts, this is well inside the travel scope so they’ll bang them into the jobs.

It’s probably too far for them to commute (28 miles) especially when DHL has a massive recruitment program in place at Worksop for the old Wilkos depot. (See my other thread).
There are 14 ex Wilko (GXO) drivers moving to the new B&Q Blyth depot, they where doing inductions at B&Q worksop last week, which is why you may see more units (ex Wilko) in the Blyth yard

Sounds like a cushy number.

It’s pretty easy tbh.
1-2 store delivery runs a day, pull up at a store, open curtains, forklift unloads & puts on recycling and returns, while you sit in the cab doing nothing. Return the yard and repeat if necessary for 2nd run or onto 2nd store for a split load. Average 10hrs a day.
Sometimes it’s 1 store plus backhaul ie: Warrington & down to west Hallam, today is down to Stoke and up to Worksop depot (drop & swop) then back to Doncaster.

Speaking to one of the ex-Wilko Blyth drivers today they have spent the week in Swindon, nighting out in the 19-plate MANs doing RCC deliveries from there because there’s not enough work yet in Blyth.

Ex Heywood work is HDC, eg Dutch trolleys of plants/flowers, very busy in spring time, think they also did the Xmas trees.
