Lifting the hose to a higher inlet point on a building or gantry possibly ?
We had a delivery in spain where we used to haul the hose up on a rope and it was a bloody pain to do.
Could it have been one of those cement/concrete pumps?
nope it wasn’t concrete , iirc it may have been wincantons ■■? if that helps .
