Self preservation skills kicking in, he was not to know that 15 school kids were on the bus! Its just the journalistic skills in describing the incident that are at fault
The same applies to ‘hero pilot crashes plane avoiding school/hospital’ (insert favourite institution) anyone flying a plane would look for an uninterupted piece of land to attempt a crash landing…not a large building in their path.

Agency bus driver.

Bus driver…

Should have his licence ripped into tiny little pieces and scattered on the local tip. Never to drive anything more than a shopping trolley and then only with an adult present.

Nice save by the truck driver. I agree, it’s a reactionary moment, you just brake like ■■■■ with both feet on the pedal, yer arse clear off the seat, pulling up on the wheel with both hands and hoping.

It’s possible that a different driver may well have predicted that Mr Looneychoon bus driver was gonna go for it anyway and slow earlier. As well as old US trucks have no ABS.

Yes, I think a modern European ABS system would have prevented that jackknife but would have meant impact with the bus.

Problem with easing off the gas when there are vehicles at junctions is it encourages them to go even can be better to gun it and close the gap.

The bus driver is expected to be charged.

Well, the driver has been sent for re training.

That’s the M5 south bound. All the bus driver had to do was drive forward and then re joined at the slip road… the funny thing is there is no turn off. It’s the offices for the M5 toll.

The driver was on 102kph. The legal speed, any driver who thinks you can anticipate a tarded driver pulling out on you, when the bus driver stated I thought the gap was bigger.

He doesn’t even need a medica
For his MR licence over here. You only do a medical for MC, even the C+E equivalent requires no medical. Nor a test.

Did anyone crash into the truck afterwards? Would be amazed if they all managed to stop.

As for charged - is there a charge of attempted death by dangerous driving as that truck hitting a bus would be pretty guaranteed to end horrifically.

Btw, were any kittens harmed?

On a right hand bend it would have been expected to jacknife to the right not the left.Going by the tyre smoke all the signs are that the driver momentarily released the brakes then steered it into a left hand jacknife thereby avoiding any conflict with traffic in the right hand lanes and/or avoiding what surely could only have been hitting the bus if it hadn’t jacknifed. :bulb:

But ideally the truck that was overtaking in lane 2 at 0.01 needed to brake and flash him out into lane 2 as the hazard of the muppet bus driver was clear to both at that point.

noticed the bus driver never stopped, pxxxk

The Bus Driver’s next vehicle to drive…

But wasn’t the bus driver trying to enter the m/w by using an exit slip?

That slip road only goes to offices, there is no signage for that slip unless you want to go to the M5 toll offices as explained. Here with the reason some people are not fit to drive, I assumed it was dozy Australian cousin.

Agency bus driver.

Agency truck driver that’s why he reacted so quickly.

“…bus driver was flagged down by passing motorists”

OK, so the groaning of tyres and the carriageway completely obliterated by smoke wasn’t noticed, then. Nor were any follow on from joining mirror safety checks made. :open_mouth:

Driver-Once-More:

The bus driver is expected to be charged.

For a new set of tyres without flat spots.
