I’m taking a trailer up to Solihull plant for 6AM Monday to tip, then reload empty pallets at Bromwich and return trailer to Harwich. Does anybody know if there are any ‘funnies’ to be aware of, either on the run in, or at the plant itself? From what I remember of the paperwork, I’ve got to go to Bay Day 37?
not usualy too bad in solihull u dont usualy go strait to the dock you want . you normaly report to what thay call the lagoon wich is strait down the hill from the gate to the roundabout and you will see a few bays with a portacabin outside see them in there and thay let them know your here. usualy only one side tip .your reload is prob the jag factory next to fort dunlop, not usualy to bad there either .is it an olof trailer ur taking?
Thanks - that’s just the sort of info I was after! From what I’ve been told, it’s a LIT trailer - they have told me that I need to count the straps, sideboards etc. This is the first ferry trailer I’ve done (from my vast experience of about 4 artic jobs!), so it’s all gonna be a big learning curve I’m sure!
if u have a look in the back before u get to the bay and see wich side of the trailer the ratchets are on the straps tell the for lift it needs to come of that side just saves you opening both sides when ur tipping throw the strap over the load (with out the ratchet) as ur not usually allowed on trailer ,then wen u reload the stillages u can just pull them back over. the stillages wont go anywere but some trailer fims will take money off the rate and give it to the haulier the other side as thay will have to strap it by law over there its a big place but thay are ok in both places
It will probably be Deck 37 at Land Rover, Solihull, best way in is the entrance on Damson Parkway, not Lode Lane. Do you know which gate at Jaguar, Castle Bromwich?
Hmmm, just read paperwork again, and got it all wrong! I’m tipping at Coleshill, and reloading CHEP pallets at Solihull - and it is Deck 37. (Don’t know where I got Castle Bromwich from )
DHL, Edison Road, Hams Hall. In to Hams, turn right at the first roundabout and it’s half a mile down there on the left, where trade team used to be, when you pull in the gate park on the left. You’ve been told about the Solihull, so happy hunting.
Castle bromwich is the Jag factory but there is a chep automotive packaging site in west bromwich as well just off the m5 j1.
For Jaguar at Coleshill you exit the M6 at J5, go right round the roundabout (take it easy-the camber is wrong) and under the motorway. Keep left past B&Q to the Spitfire island (you will see the sculpture on the island), take the first exit and the factory is on your right.
Turn right at the first island between the Travelodge (Used to be Fort Dunlop), and the entrance is at the end on the right. The security guy will tell you where to go. Waiting times can vary but pretty good generally - especially at 6am.
To get to Landrover, Solihul - Go back the way you came to the M6 and down the M42 to J6 (The NEC), Turn towards Birmingham on the A45 and go past the airport to a big set of lights with a hotel on the right. Take the slip road to turn left and the entrance to Landrover is about ½mile down on the right (watch your speed here). The gate will give you a map but make sure you understand where to go as it is a very big place and easy to get lost.
Come out of Hamms Hall, left at roundabout & just follow, over J4 of the M6,
take the slip road on your left, as if your going to airport/NEC, over a few
roundabouts & CHEP is on your left.
Dont park on the road outside or you WILL get a ticket.

Jaguar Coleshill■■? that would be Castle Vale
thats right
jaguar is opposite castle vale ,
although you would need to go past it
and use the entrance next left by the showcase cinema
Thanks for everyone’s help on this - finished the run yesterday. Delivery was to DHL Supply Chain at Hams Hall - I pulled up at the gate, and by the time I’d walked the 4 feet to the window, the guy had already booked my trailer in and sorted the bay. Went straight onto the bay, opened the curtains, and was unloaded and on my way within 30 minutes!
Reload at Land Rover wasn’t quite so simple - went to Deck 37 as instructed, got turned away, because they didn’t know anything about it and set back to the lagoon. They knew nothing about it either, and sent me back to Deck 37, who told me I might as well leave as they hadn’t got anything for me. Went back to the lagoon and parked up, phoned the office. They came back eventually to tell me that it had been chenged to Deck 41, on the other side of the site. Got round there, and was eventually loaded with empty stillages and on my way by 10, only 3 hours after getting there.
Took trailer back to Harwich, and got back to yard and parked up with tacho reading 14h 59m of duty time! Oh, and highlight of the trip was seeing Mr Vain on the A14 at Spitals at lunchtime!
