Lawrence Dunbar:
Im not sure about a London trunk, Crowbar will probably know Chris, His firm did, Regards Larry.
Hi Chris Cappies did run a london trunk as well as Crows. l remember one winters Sunday night in the fog at Cattrick just before the bridge at the Racecourse, there was a deadend road down the side of the brigde
and 6 of Cappies A type Bedfords did a nose to tail job and thier fitter was down with 5 rads and 5sets of tail lights . Obviously the first one missed the bridge because of the thick fog .
The Atkinson l think will be Deighton Bros [Newcastle] ltd by the looks of it

I’ve got the same book this pic is from, it looks like the writing is smaller after the first group of wording, didn’t Baxters have the ‘Road’ part from Road Services in smaller font on the headboards, just a thought, the background is a bit fuzzy in the book too so you can’t read it any better even magnified. I would have thought Peter Davies would have took more pictures of the other motors at the same time he took that one! Franky.
You could be right Franky, Its a pity the reg isnt visable, Baxters were almalgamated in 1969ish With A.G.Waugh, Baxter had 2 Atki Units, OJR>>>F, The late Bob Greenlees & The late Arthur Mallin drove them, It was the signwritng on the front panel that made think it could have been Baxters the round bit would have Baxters Road Services in small writing, Regards Larry.
One of the wagons based at swarland was driven by the late Joe Smith from Shilbottle, who then went to Armstrongs of prestwick(ponteland) and then Redpath of Wooler where he was when he sadly passed away.

Lawrence Dunbar:
Aye, there was a driver who lived beside me at Wideopen, He worked for them years, Allan Platten a real nice bloke to know, & there was a one called Koggi, now he was a real character,He went to work for Trembles at Benton after he left Cappies, I think his full name was Bernard Koggins, It would be very nice to hear from anyone who knew these drivers & some original photos of them in the old days, Regards Larry.
Hi,Laurence. I worked with a couple of ex cappies drivers that you may know, Bob Huck, and Brian Maxwell, dont know what they are doing now though, probably retired
