Hi Keith! What does it that you are hauling?
Have done that my self alot here in Sweden.

Reg Danne

I personally never tire of looking at what must be one of this country`s few remaining " real " hauliers , credit must be given to management , drivers, mechanics ,alike . To survive in an area of the country where the recession has and is still taking its toll takes a great deal of hard work .The only other company that must be its equal ( and unfortunately no longer with us ) is W & J Ridings .

I share your opinions on two great hauliers, Sadly as you say Ridings are long gone, But Jakeys is still going, Its now run by the third generation plus some of the best office staff one could wish for, Its a well run Co, who has still got some long term drivers, Well done Jakey Adams is all I can say, Of course my son works for them too & has been there some 15 years now, Regards Larry.

I was talking to old Jimmy Adams & his good lady in Waitroses Shop to-day in Ponteland, He is 80 & looks very well, Ive known him a long time now, In fact I first met him in the 50s, I used to get a lot of work from Adams, And they were decent rates & prompt payers, which was a bonus to me as an owner driver, Regards Larry.

And here I am thinking things are in a bad way in your part of the country only to find that 2 retired hauliers are shopping and able to afford to shop in Waitrose`s .!!!

The Jimmy I was speaking to to-day is the son of the founder, As far as I know his old dad started off as a coalman with a horse & cart doing bagged coal around the Byker area of Newcastle, He then went on to buy a wagon & go into long distance haulage, He was annoyed when Nationilisation came about, But he kept going & in the 50s when they denationlised things he came back & went to town If I may put it that way & They have never looked back since, They are a well run family company IMO, & deserve everything that they have achieved over the years, Regards Larry.
