Here’s a real nice looking one ready for road with hydraulicsā€¦Ć¢ā€šĀ¬4,900 …sounds very reasonable judging by the condition…

Thats the TEC cab with what looks like a ZF box in it the Turbostars dash was more of a wrapround affair

Hi, didn’t the ivecos have an electric folding bunk or something like that? When I was a kid a Russell davies driver near ours let me have a sit inside his truck- now not sure if it was a turbostar or not but it had the full deflector kit and I think it was quite new, nice inside, I’d only ever sat in a couple of f12s and a marathon at the time!

Here’s one off the net…

found these on youtube.
cant say i drove a turbostar very far, sittingbourne to ramsgate to swap a trailer.fuller gearbox was a nightmare.

Aaaaaahhhh what memories. My first introduction to the famous or infamous, depending on your point of view, Eaton Twin-Splitter.
Always heard horror stories about the T/S. I played some magnifecent tunes on it but by the end of the first week I loved it. Which is more than can be said for the 360 Turbostar! However, having said that the bloody thing pulled like a train, but not in the class as me old ERF! That thing could pull 44 tonnes up a mountain with only one split!

nice article , …over Ā£3,300 for a mobile phone  & 85p for the mag  nowadays you can buy a phone cheaper than the mag

Those phones were bloody expensive! I got a new Motorola with memory, hands free and all the bits for £1800 in 1985. I still have it somewhere.

Remember Martin Dawes?

I think they used to run some Roadtrains in the mid 80`s

Did Iveco ever make a 6x2 tag axle turbostar or were there just loads of conversions?.

Sounds like you were ā€œWell tucked upā€ Dave!!! I remember back in '85 when cell phones came out Malc Woodhouse Snr.and me bought 100 Motorolas between us and all the kit for Ā£800 a shot, fitted, off Atlantic Communications from Ellesmere IIRC.Dennis.

Hi Folks,
My brother drove this one for Lishmans Ingleton a long time ago
Would it be a Turbostar?

Cheers Malc.

Bloody hell, missed that - we had the self same motor (and A512JVG) on medium term hire from Graylease in Hull back in 84 or 85 while waiting for two new 2800s, any idea whether that’s where your brother’s firm bought it from?

They’d definitely catch pigeons, quite different from the DAFs that replaced them eventually, although the DAFs held together much better

Yes they did, they were badged 260.36 & 260.48. They were very long & fairly heavy so didn’t exactly take off over here.

Ross.

OK not quite a Turbostar, but perhaps it’s grandad

I know this isn’t a Turbostar, and I might draw a bit of flak personally, but for what I paid for this Iveco to what I would have had to pay for a Scania it was a good motor,ZF 6spd,P/steering,sleeper cab (un-used) twin tanks, cruise comfortably at 60mph,air suspension seat ect,ect.Bewick.
