Iveco stralis 2006

Anybody know why an iveco stralis is losing air and airlocking the gearbox. What part is needed or is it just a wd40 job.

If I don’t say it, somebody else will. They are useless heaps.

The part you need is the big badge on the front. You need one that doesn’t say IVECO

That’s not helpful ,I already knew all that

Is it leaking from the gearbox?

I think so,but must be a small leak.and it’s not all the time.it happens now and again.they are a heap but this tractor can pull.

Sucking eggs, but you are going to get nowhere with this until you start investigating the problem when it is doing it.

We’ve hada lot of bother with the solenoid valves on the gs3 control unit leaking not fully sealing on the Aschronic. It’s generally the first solenoid which is the one which activates the air supply to the rest of the box. The seal either splits or becomes hardened and misshapen allowing air past. All the solenoid are the same if you strip the gs3 and remove the first solenoid you may be able to see damage to the seal. Theres also 2 seals which seal the lid to the box which could be worth checking.

Thanks AF,can the seals just be replaced or do the solenoids need to be replaced.

It’s generally just the seals that spilt or harden and become misshapen. I’d imagine you could purchase them separately but I’ve never actually bought any, we just strip the solenoid bank and replace the solenoid with a used one out of a pack we had lying around as its generally only the first solenoid that lets air past and all the solenoids are the same.

The above video shows how you strip the top(if it works) and it’s the bank of black solenoids you can see if you follow the printed circuit on vid. When rebuilding its easier if you leave the 2 halfs split as you can see 2 of the 3 actuators to get them aligned. The other seals in the face of the lids dont often cause bother but I know they usually come with the gasket kit.

DAF use the same box ,and sell repair kits for the modulator …They would have to be ordered in though.
