The DWP has to power to force drivers (and other trades) to apply for suitable jobs, irrespective of rates of pay.
Apply yes but they have no power over how much of a ■■■■ up you make of the interview and driving assessment. I think driving down the road at 20MPH, selecting 1st when you’d do a range change but forgetting to change range and dumping the clutch grenading the engine should suffice. Or just forget to swing out on a corner and take a lamp post or a telephone box out.
it sure does make you think why bother learning drive one in the first place and do all the cpc/dpc razamatazz for dont it■■? yes better than the dole and yes moneys tight but theres ■■■■ taking and then theres ■■■■ taking…but as above only a matter of time this will sadly become the norm…sad really…is it any wonder that many dont see hgv driving as a profession anymore…the ad in my eyes is clearly aimed at taking the ■■■■
Whilst in no way agreeing with the hourly rate sadly Strabane is one of the poorest parts of the UK and the majority of jobs around that area are minimum wage. Plus it has always been the case that driving jobs in Northern Ireland that do not involve UK work have always been poorly paid and are generally done by older drivers who have paid of their mortgatges etc
sapper:
Gthe job is advertised in Strabane, which I think isin northern Ireland, and I don’t think that the minimum wage in Germany will be that low, as the minimum wage in France js more than 9.50 euro per hour

I think that idea is totally irresponsible… So much better to get it wedged on the gates of the yard, then reverse back into the fuel pump…
“Why did you leave your last job?.. My medications kept making me drowsy and I kept leaving the wrong stuff at the wrong places…”
“How do you feel about night’s out?.. That’s very kind of you, but I wouldn’t be able to buy you a drink back on that crap money”
itsybitsy:
no wonder there poor with wages like that
We may be one of the poorer areas of the UK but at least our schools teach us the difference between there, they’re and their
But not the difference between of and off, or how to spell “mortgage”.

It’s in the middle of nowhere in Northern Ireland. Who in their right mind would let a bloke out in their expensive & potentially deadly asset for minimum wage■■?
The same cowboys who employ the muppets who run into Dunragit bridge on an almost weekly basis
Can’t be for much longer, the bypass can’t be far off finished.
The fact that wages are still going downwards is simply proof that there is no recovery in the economy, despite the pre-election spin. If there was recovery, then there would be more demand for the folk who move consumer goods around, and wages would be rising, not falling.
If you’re signing on as a C+E licence holder, then you don’t declare that qualification to the DWP unless you’re an idiot.
The jobcentre isn’t there to hand out jobs to people qualified to do them, because there are no real jobs to be had there.
It’s there to get people off the DWP jobless statistics pure and simple.
Even if you turned up with a leg missing, you’d be sent to ATOS who’d determine that “because you could make the appointment, you must be fit to work” - and promptly be told to report back to the jobcentre to be handed a “job” like this…
When they ask for a “clean licence” I suggest they’ll be happy to take some kid who’s licence is still wet. It is a clean licence after all.
If you had any experience already, you wouldn’t be looking to sign on in the first place, because if you’re happy with working for crap wages like this, there’s no shortage of work - right?
BT postcodes are Northern Ireland, and not Scotland btw.

I think there is a noticeable recovery but a lot of employers are still saying there isn’t so they can justify their ■■■■ poor offerings of a wage.

There is no real recovery at all, exports are down and there is a housing bubble getting bigger and bigger, once the interest rates start to rise all those people who took help to start buying a house will quickly realise that living on minimum wage cannot pay the mortgage and so there will be another glut of houses for sale once more, north of Watford this country has been in recession for many years.
