Data collection from Software Defined Vehicles & the like is reaching new lows for the unsuspecting customer, whose data is sold on to insurance companies without their knowledge.
They know when you speed, use hard acceleration & heavy braking which will bump your insurance premiums higher.
Hyundai being the worst auto maker for doing this.
" Hyundai enrolled all consumers who activated their new car’s internet connection into the company’s driving score program, which included sharing their data with Verisk," the senators said. “Between 2018 and 2024, Hyundai shared data from 1.7 million vehicles with Verisk, which paid Hyundai $1,043,315.69, or 61 cents per car. Hyundai did not seek informed consent from consumers before sharing their data.”
It’s a good job I don’t have a heavy foot these days, I just dial in the speed limit on the ACC & chill.
One comment on that piece hit the nail on the heaD.
“The reason why so many auto manufacturers slow rolled CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Because the auto manufacturers wanted to sell your information and not let apple/google do it instead.”
