isuzu

drove a 7.5 tonne isuzu today on agency work, did not want to but could not turn down a days work, have to say they are the biggest piece of crap i have ever driven, you feel every bump, and are generally very uncomfortable in every way,i do not like fiats either but i would put isuzu trucks on the same rating as fiat cars, absolute crap, thank god i am back on class 1 tomorrow 12 11 13

We’ve got two at work. Automatics. 62 plates.

If you ask me I think they are down right dangerous. My gaffer knows my feelings on these and knows I won’t be driving one in the foreseeable future.

The hand brakes are appalling and with the truck being autos, you can’t use the gearbox to help hold the truck.

I honestly believe these should be banned, they’re too low, no crumple zones, no safety features, and worst of all the seats are shocking. How Isuzu thought it was a good idea to sell these heaps is beyond me.

Oh dear my boss is replacing his canter with one. I test drove the new canter with him and it wasn’t bad for what it was but with the poor service we receive from our local Merc dealer he decided he’d rather have an Isuzu then give them his money. Is he likely to regret it then?.

drive a 7.5 t curtain on adr work luckily it a six speed manual

find when fully loaded it will pull just the same as any other 7.5 tonner cab very spartan as previously stated buy others ratchet handbrake does its job ok on fuel if a small tank
having driven both the auto version of this and and the canter i would take the isuzu every time hasnt got the cab space of a proper 7.5t but maintainence wise no air to have to worry about also no adblu so must cost less to maintain and with the current financial climate thats what your finance manager is going to be looking at cost

have been driving this one for six months its on a 58 plate done over 175k and not had any issues at all only fault in that time was to do with thick mobile fitter from ATS cross threading the rear wheel nuts !

would love to have a proper 7.5t for this work but know if it gets replaced it will be a horrible auto no matter which manufacturer they choose as that seems to be the way

I have driven a Mitsubishi Canter which is essentially the same thing and I agree with the previous poster about them being utter heaps. The idea of having an accident in one of them was terrifying and the brakes were utter turd, bordering on being unfit for purpose imo.

Acceptable maybe for local heavy multi drop work slinging parcels etc. but certainly not for any serious driving. Surely they aren’t that much cheaper than a bog standard Iveco Eurocargo?

The canter we have is a good little truck tbh. About as comfy as my mrs ka convertible but has over 500,000km on it without any real engine issues and its inly ever done local work and is 10 years old.The problem with it is the callipers seizing and at £900 a pop it gets ridiculous it wants drums on the back but the new fuso has the same set up that’s half the reason he’s gone Isuzu I think. It’s no good is having any other 7.5 because they’re to big and we get into some stupidly tight places. You look at some 7.5 and they may as well gone for a 12 tonner. I will seldom drive the thing any way but will be interesting to see how easy it will be to squeeze I’m somewhere with an auto box.
I will add though it was a good truck to learn in until I was 21, it teaches you to plan ahead and drive properly because if you made a mistake and needed to slam the brakes on you’d ■■■■ it. In an emergency stop situation it’s safer to throw your belt off and bale out. There small trucks and you see them being flung around like a go kart but those who do will get caught out one day i had many a near miss in my first month in it at 18.

exactly my point, the one i drove was an 05 plate so you can imagine what that was like
