Without further clarification of duty start and end times Wed - Tues is 7 days! So would need more info m8 but am also interested in this 12 day rule■■?
With effect from 4 June 2010, drivers on international occasional coach journeys will be able to postpone the weekly rest period for up to 12 consecutive 24-hour periods following a previous regular weekly rest period.
This applies to services which last at least 24 consecutive hours in another Member State or third country other than the one in which the service started. However, drivers who postpone their weekly rest period must either take at the end of the derogation;
two weekly rest periods back to back, or
one regular weekly rest period and one reduced weekly rest period of at least 24 hours back to back.It should be noted that, as always, any reduction must be compensated by an equivalent period of rest taken en bloc before the end of the third week following the end of the derogation period.
The 12 day rule.
Thanks for that!
why can they have a 12 day rule and not us? more chance of beating the stupid lorry bans, then taking time off at home.

No idea…to be honest it’s not that great…you have to have 45 off before you go, then 90 when you come back, or 2 lots of 72…so effectively you lose at least 6 days for what may be only 7 days work!

Simple. When people go on a coach trip they go for a week or 10 days; having this deregulation means the operator doesn’t have to send two drivers. Even if they did, if they ran to our rules one of them would have to take 24 hours rest somewhere along the way which would have to be away from the vehicle, and that wouldn’t be practical.
Basically it seems that, for once, a bit of common sense has been applied in that the regulations have been tailored to fit the job rather than the other way round.
