Strictly in terms of the WTD yes that’s legal.
But if you’re driving a vehicle in scope of tachograph rules and drive over 4 1/2 hours, then the 3 x 15 min breaks won’t reset your driving time (it did about 15 years ago), so will be illegal in terms of driver’s hours. You need 1 x 15 min and 1 x 30 min in that order.
However, if your’s day’s total driving does not exceed 4 1/2 hours, or you do not drive a vehicle within scope of tachograph rules, you’re legal.
Just watch your weekly average, because though this is legal for any particular day, ■■■■■■■■■■■■ it would push you over a 48 hour average before long.

Between 6 - 9 hours there must be a 30 minute total break, so it isn’t legal by WTD rules.

You answer is Incorrect 100%
Perhaps you could link or quote to where you think this is the law
Yet another…
‘How can I squeeze all the hours god sends in without stopping for a break’ thread.
Chill mate, work smart not hard.

I can concur with both but planning ones day around cafes is the better option if the job is in the bag .
Even if it is legal when do you see your wife and family? Go fishing or play sport. Work to live. When it all goes ■■■■ up the gaffer wont stand by you.

Working Time Directive | Driver HoursYou answer is Incorrect 100%
Perhaps you could link or quote to where you think this is the law
From the link he provided above:
You cannot work for more than 6 accumulative hours without a break. As defined by the Drivers hour’s laws, a break must be at least 15 minutes in length in order to qualify as a break.
If you are to work between 6 – 9 hours, then you must accumulate 30 minutes of break across your shift.
You can do this by taking periods of breaks at least 15 minutes in length or a full 30 minutes of break all at once. Just remember to not work more than 6 consecutive hours without a break of at least 15 minutes.
If you continue to work up until you exceed 9 hours of WTD, then you must take a further 15 minute break. So 45 minutes of break across the shift in total. Again, this can be taken in periods of at least 15 minutes or more, or all at once provided you do not breach other regulations.
The problem occurs because of the interpretation of the “if you are to work between 6 – 9 hours, then you must accumulate 30 minutes of break across your shift.” It’s too easy to over-think that one. I have to agree though that regardless of legality if you’ve done 9hrs or more without at least 30 minutes of breaks it’s time to go find another job.
The law =
assets.publishing.service.gov.u … -rules.pdf
Cannot work for more than 6 hours
without a break. A break should be at
least 15 minutes long
30 minute break if working between 6
and 9 hours in total
45 minute break if working more than 9
hours in total
As everyone can see - it all depends on how long the working time is for the shift as to whether it is the blue OR red rule which applies - not both
It’s crazy how many drivers still can’t grasp the old WTD rules.
ok if you’re a new driver it’s a lot to get your head around but otherwise it’s basic school boy stuff.

I’ve always been told that you must have the 15 minute break before the 6 hours ie work for 5 hours 45 then a 15 minute break . It now seems you can work 6 and then have a 15 . Was that the case , have the rules changed again ■■ Its hard to keep up with all the changes to tacho rules and WTD rules over the last year or so .

Common sense may suggest that, but common sense does not apply here.
Up to 6hrs one 15min break. If going beyond 6hrs, a second 15min must be taken before shift end. So, a first 15min before 6hrs, then the second 15min, before shift end, could be taken 8hrs40 after shift start, followed by 5min work.
Stupid but legal.
Open to correction if I`m not up to basic school level.
Ed to add
And to further compound the silliness, if going beyond 9hrs, the second 15 (plus a third 15min) could be taken after the 9hrs…it is still before shift end
Work up to 6…
Hours without stopping?
BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
Ok I’ve always gone with a 15 minute break before 6 hours work (WTD) unless 4½ driving hours is almost up of course
Then another 30 minute break before 9 hours (WTD again)
If I work close to or over 12 hours then I take another 15 minutes, or even take my first and second break as 30 minutes each if I know it’s gonna be over a 12 hour day
Never had an issue with this. Plus I kinda have set break times, within reason (set by me of course) so I never mess up [emoji6]
Yes it is legal. You’ve done a 15hr day and breaks totalling 45mins and you haven’t worked over 6 hrs without a 15 min break

The 6-9 hour rule - that’s if your total shift is between 6 and 9 hours. Then your breaks need to total 30 mins.
But if your total shift is 15 hours you don’t need to have 30 mins before the 9 hour mark. You just need to have 45 mins across the shift without going more than 6 hours without a 15 min break.
In reality, you aren’t going to take it to 6 hours on the dot before having a break, so all the examples saying work 6 hours, take a 15, aren’t real world examples.
Take breaks taking into account possible traffic and offloading issues coming up, so well in advance of when you have to. Also, be breaked up to allow for the tasks at the depot on return.
Yes, you can pass 9 hours on only a 15, but why would you?
