Is this a good price for car to artic?

Hi guys, have messaged a local HGV training company asking for a quote on car to artic and have been quoted £2300. Is this a good price for this? It’s 8 hours on a rigid then 16 hours on an artic.

It’s not just a matter of price. Consider quality, instructor qualifications (most have NO qualifications), training centre facilities etc etc. Then ask why they want you to do a third of your CE course on a C. This is just a way of utilising their fleet with little consideration for your success IMO.

PSTT, the forum sponsor for years, has a 30 hour 1:1 car to artic course for £2475 (allowing for the 10% Trucknet user discount.) You can also purchase Pass Protection at just £395 which will cover the cost of 3 extra tests should it all go wrong - which is unlikely but takes the pressure out.

So, to answer your question: compare £2300 for a 24 hour course where a third of it is on a vehicle you’re not interested in with £2475 when you get all your training on a real artic, 1:1 training from fully qualified, registered instructors and where you’ll take your test at their own private test centre. Surely it’s a no brainer? Residential at no extra cost if you’re more than 70 miles from NG17 3FW.

Must be worth a call - mention that you’re a Trucknet user. 01623 555661

I was seriously looking at PSTT as heard nothing but good reviews. It’s just that I think it might be difficult as I’m 80 miles away and would need to try and work around work etc. Once i’ve passed my theory i’ll have a proper good think.

Thank you for the info

The price is right, But you can’t pass after 16 hours. 50-60 hours on a 2 candidates to 1 instructor basis would be a minimum. So potentially 24 hrs on your own all in an artic may be possible, but I have no experience of that.

What??

You can pass a test without any lessons technically. Unlikely bit possible.

You could also pass after any amount of training if the instructors feel you are at test standard.

I would look elsewhere. It’s pointless driving around in class 2 for 8 hours it is a completely different vehicle.

That would normally be fine provided it doesn’t include the coupling/uncoupling and reversing which should be in addition to this time. Otherwise, it’s probably not enough.

I missed out the word expect. Can’t expect to pass
