But what about the other way round?

I know that the UK C+E is valid in New Zealand because I have looked into it. (Just needs swapping over).

I exchanged uk hgv for NZ truck and bus licences, just had to do theory tests, and write a nice letter to the NZ vosa / transport department and they will grant you a bus licence if you are anexperienced truck driver.
That was nearly 5 years ago though

.

Can’t speak for OZ but in NZ I exchanged UK HGV for NZ HGV and bus licences. Had to do theory test, and write to the transport department to ask for permission to drive buses which they allow for experienced lorry drivers.

Things might have changed, but when we came to Oz in '74 I went to the local nick and a copper (from Battersea I might add) swapped my car licence but not the class 1. I had to hire an artic from Ace Driving School and take a test :unamused: I’ve often wondered if that copper had a mate at Ace.

When we came out here in 1998 I had to hire an artic from Ace Driving School for two hours, they were near Kangaroo Point in Brisbane at the time and they were really helpful. I had to have their instructor with me whose first name was Preston, it seemed that his grandad was from Lancashire many years before. We drove over to Cleveland to take the test and the examiner told me that his wife was from Leeds.

Yep, Ace at Kangaroo Point. I used a D type Ford and took the test at Rosalie. Can’t remember the instructor, but by the way he spoke once he’d seen me drive, seemed to think it was a waste of time. Are you still in Brisbane ? Don’t worry, I won’t be knocking on yer door.

Seems reasonable to assume it’s the same in Australia.

They do have snazzy uniforms down under…

No Pete, Hervey Bay.
Now that I am retired I just keep driving my wife mad or so she keeps telling me.

Personally N.D. I have always liked the uniforms that the meter maids wear on the Gold Coast.
I hope this helps.
