Your not allowed in the town between certain times but can access the docks anytime.
I’ve seen no access (10pm to 7am) signs but wondered if there is a route from the a14 to cliff quay where these can be avoided
Not sure what cliff quay is? assume your talking about the docks? Your allowed to access the docks at any time and as you approach you’ll see signs confirming this, think its the a131 you need, come up the slip road head into ipswich, you go down a hill then you’ll come to the town, on the right is a petrol station, shell i think and the dock entrance is just past that on your right, you go round a funny little roundabout.
Thanks for the info mate. Cliff quay is the other side of the port, I need the grain terminals, so it’s access past the dock entrance you mention. I know I can go over the Orwell bridge but the same problem arises - timed access from nacton road.

The directions i gave you are to the trailer terminal, i can see where you need to be now. You cant get to the other side with the direction i gave you. Is there no expect for access signs you can see on google maps for use of nacton road?
Before 0700 you have to come in from the Toys R Us roundabout (Copdock) and head into town along the A1214. Follow into town and you’ll come to a big intersection, go over the first lights @ junction with Sainsbury then turn right @ the next set of lights onto the A137 (car dealers on corner). Follow this road and there are signs for Cliff Quay.
You’ll go round the one way system and pass the Uni and then pick up the A1156 for Felixstowe. You’ll come to a set of lights with a seafood restaurant on the corner, turn right here and follow down to the roundabout then your there.
If your using a satnav it will probably take you the way I have said once your at Sainsburys anyhow.

Looks like that lie in has gone out of the window lol.

Forgot to say to take the third exit off the roundabout after the seafood restaurant and just follow ahead and it takes you to the gate.
Used to go there a lot to the old tolly cobbold brewery Cant quite remember the route but I used the one way think it’s called star lane and the third exit off the roundabout is duke street which takes you down to the quay
