Many years ago I had an issue at Birmingham Market when the security wouldn’t allow me to stay and I refused to leave because my hours were up. I called the police for advice and they sent down 2 officers, one very much a junior and the other a flat hat.
This was about 0500 and they escorted me to a street about a mile or 2 away with double yellow lines for miles. They told me to park there and I would have no problems. I had 9 hours or whatever sleep undisturbed.
Would that work nowadays to transfer responsibility away from the driver onto the authorities,do you think/
Yeah as long as you put tacho on rest, because by the time they turned up (if at all) you would have had your 11 off…or even your weekly rest.
Nah seriously mate I dont think it would.
It’s driver’s responsibility, if there is a chance of not finding a park, or no time to get there after tipping, let the office deal with it before you get there, so there is no come back, …or just dont go to next morning on a full card.
Way back then you k ew or should have known it was getting to the end of your hours and planned accordingly.
If the OP isn’t an owner driver, what did the boss say as the time approached?
In answer. To the question, it’s legit to be moved in that way on rest. But down to the driver for lines /parking etc
