Infringements

A lot has been reported on this forum with regards to fines handed out by euro-plod!

Can/do they issue fines for infringements only in the country the infringement occurred or will/do they issue the fine no matter what or where?

I don’t know if this will help I was stopped a few weeks back whilst going round ring road at LYON by the French police fore a digi card check and a week before that I got done in the uk fore going over the 90 hours rule by uk police and thay had the ability to check with the uk if I hade been fined in the uk if I had not been they was going to nick me again I then asked if I made an infringement in the uk and was stopped again in france would the French police fine me fore that yes he said if the uk police or vosa had not already done so gone around the sticks abit to try to explain sorry

If you get fined always keep the slip of paper they issue your receipt on as proof off fine.

They are able to issue fines for infringements registered on your card in ANY country, although theoretically only those that have occurred in the last 28 days (the length of time for which those on analogue tachos have to be able to produce paper disks)

However, when your card is downloaded by The Man in order to relieve you of a random amount of folding beer tokens, this is registered on your card by a symbol which looks like a head with a hat on (to signify A Personage Of Great Authority).

Always best to check your card after a run in with these delightful gentlemen to ensure that this symbol shows on your card before they disappear!! (A quick scroll through or a printout after reinserting your card will show the aforementioned symbol with date and time).

Any infringements which have occurred before this are now no longer liable to a renewed fine and are off limits to the money grabbing uniformed licensed bandits as you will have already been brought to book and deservedly shafted for your myriad heinous misdemeanours.

A story which does the rounds over here involves Fritz trolling up to the local Polizei to have his card downloaded and stumping up a small fine so that he can then cross into France with no fear of paying an astronomical amount for the same trivial offence yon side of the border.

HTH

sweden is an exemption to the rule- they will only fine you for offences that have occured in sweden - I’ve seen it writing on a paper from a roadside check.
