Infringements points

i went in to sainsburys depot at stone where they do the frozen and got talking to one of there drivers, this site is run by TDG and he was telling me the TM has come up with the idea of tacho infringement points…if the driver clocks up 12 points in a 12 month rolling period he then gets his final warning if he then gets another 6 points he then get dissmissed from the company. the points are based on what the infridgment is…ie
going over 4 1/2hr drive=3points 6hr wtd=2points overspeed=3points etc etc.WTF!!! the place where i work at present nearly all the drivers would have been sacked in 6 months…

most of ours would have been sacked after a couple of weeks! no wonder you get held up by all the supermarket wagons.

we have a similar system at our place but its how many infringments you get in a 3 month period,

e.g. up to 5 infringments - 3 points
up to 10 infringments - 6 points
up to 500 - 25 points etc etc etc

runs along side many other things that you can get points for, if you reach 25 points it triggers disciplinary procedures, and when it was introduced infringments literally halfed over night.

There is no reason to get infringements and at the end of the day, its not just the driver who can be done for them but the company too.

Once again another reason why people are leaving haulage big style, why do you want to put up with crap like that when there is no need at all. :imp:

As if it aint bad enough the VOSA breathing down your neck your getting some scrumptuous (SPL) little TM acting like HITLER and giving you the HeeHo because youve clocked up too many overspeeds. ■■■■■■■■

Infringements and your sacked, lol i couldn’t be bothered with such companies , as for drivers dont need to make infringements, it isn’t always down to the driver, but can be a malfunction of the tacho unit,
as for drivers bit on general ,a lot would depend on who you work for,how much you are pushed into driving your to your max time each shift, especially doing euro work, as you will easily find a space to park in msa in the day and early evenings but try finding one late at night, so can be easy to go over hours, the same can happen here when accidents close the motorway ect ,

Were on a similar system,Tachomaster system allocates point to each infringment and this then goes onto a totting up over a rolling 12 week period.Up to 10 points gets you a 1 to 1 counselling with a shift manager (a quiet chat :unamused: ),11 points and over in the 12 weeks gets you an offical meeting which goes on your record towards a verbal warning IF you go over 20 points in the rolling period :open_mouth:

Examples of what MAJOR infringments will earn you points:-
Daily drive time exceeded 4 Points
Insufficient daily rest breaks 4 Points
More than 4.5hrs driving without a break 4 Points
Over fortnightly drive time 3 Points
Weekly drive time exceeded 3 Points
WTD infringments (6 hours without a break) 2 Points

Points are removed after 12 weeks from date of infringment

If the job wasnt difficult enough as it is … :imp:

I could cope with that as long as the transport office understood the rules and didn’t make their own variation up as suited fit at the time

Jeez,
I’d have got the boot today with 4 overspeeds    , but the fact is I haven’t once exceeded the speed limit for a truck :unamused: :unamused: this job is getting too petty for words.

What do you mean “if the job wasnt [sic] difficult enough as it is” ? I’m not seeing anything unreasonable there. Those are the tacho regs that have been in place for donkey’s year (WTD excepted) so why the sudden uproar about it? Nothing has changed. If you can’t drive to the rules and regs then go find a job where you can. I’m certainly no angel but I managed to keep within the rules just fine 99% of the time so why all the frothing?

Overspeeds aren’t infringements, they are just an advisory, so unless your company has some weird policy on them it wouldn’t matter.

As were carrying livestock were also under animal welfare regulations for bird welfare, unlike normal freight were not supposed to stop when loaded with birds as they start to die if it’s hot and there’s no ventilation and if they die onboard were open to prosecution for animal cruelty

It’s not a problem for me but some of our drivers do make the odd mistake and then theyre down on you like a ton of bricks :open_mouth:

If the drivers are putting the animal’s welfare first instead of covering their own arses from being sacked/having their licences taken away for breaking the rules then more fool them. :unamused:

i must admit when you look at our list of infringements for month[or whatever it is] the same names always seem to crop up,and theyve normally got x2/x3 next to them, some just dont take it serious :exclamation: :exclamation:
