For anyone that hasn’t been for a while, you can now get on Immingham lorry park even late in the evening.
Due to the fact, you now have to pay.
Don’t know how much it is,but judging by how empty it is now,you would think it was at the level of mse’s.
Obviously our Eastern Europe brothers have gone, most noticeably, wolter koops, who it seems cannot afford the charges.
Times are hard I suppose.
You always could get a shower there for a small fee at the chippy

Is that the one at the back of the Pelham Cafe ?
The Cafe was owned by a guy who also drove for East Trans who
were owned by MGH back in the day. ET was run by John Marsh and
Terry Ellis. Great Guys - Happy Days.
MGH were the UK Agents for Eimskip (The Icelandic Shipping Line).
Eimskip eventually bought MGH and also bought the fateful Innovate
that was to lose them millions.
.
.
Yes that’s the one.
Terry Ellis and John marsh, remember them from when I was a subbie for east Trans going back many many years.
If its empty now its probably because many of the trucks in there were local guys who parked there rather than in the yard and as they’re local there’s no way the company will pay for parking there.
I often used to park in there when on ferry trailers if it wasn’t worth going home for the night or if a few mates from further afield where going to be there but that’s because it was free, there’s no way the boss would have paid for parking when the yard was less about 5 miles away.
I bet the local industrial estates are chaos at night and on weekends now with Wolter Koops and his ilk.

Is that innovate that had the orange and white volvos ?

Is that Innovate that had the orange and white volvos ?
Yes, they had depots at M1 J29, J27 and several others.
Pete Osbourn owned most of it.
He’s got thegreen-group.com now.
Good firm to work for but obviously they didn’t charge customers enough.

I wonder where they are now - John March also had a sandwich shop in Immingham.
I remember the Robinsons father + son who was about 15. He used to pull
the fish containers off the Exxtor Terminal for his dad to deliver about 3 times
more than anyone else in Grimsby !!!
And there was Jonny Corston who shunted in Stallingborough.
And young Angie Barnbrook in the office - Mrs Robinson now - and
still at East Trans as far as I know.
.
.
Yes.
I remember mr Robinson I think.
Big lad with beard, and his lad ended up driving I think.
John corston, what a charmer he was.
When I started on eastrans as a wet behind the ears owner driver, we used to do the fish boxes to hull.
I used to do something like three on Sunday and the same on Monday.
Terry Ellis said, load your own boxes first, then, you all muck in together in order to ensure all the boxes get loaded.
The reality was load your own then help John corston load the boxes that he used to take to Grimsby.
And of course, the Grimsby boxes that he alone did, paid really well.
Not once did the nasty little ogre say thanks.
I cannot recall how long yit took me to wise up.
It paid well though.
Then exxtor haulage had the job, I used to have a guy do the nights for me, I’m pretty sure he used to drop the trailer and visit the ladies of ill repute that used to hang out near the Earle de grey.

Yes, Robinson was massive and John would moan like hell
if someone got 10 bob more than he got !!!
From Louth I think.

Ive stayed there a couple of times over the last few weeks its £12.00 parking the toilets and showers are ok and you get a ticket to get a meal over at the County Hotel meals are only up until 20.30 but you can always exchange the voucher for a couple of beers up to £5 if you’d rather
HTH
£12.00 is perfectly reasonable.
Yet the place is nearly empty at night.
Getting back to wolter koops, they used to occupy one end of that place, and now you see them parked on any bit of waste ground they can find,I imagine the owner must be one hell of a tight ■■■■,still Dutch, what can I say:-)
Especially as vosa has been on there case, they seem to be double manning.
Two to a cab in this weather must be hellish, you need to be able to shower n that.
It’s pretty inhuman I think.

Ahh I knew about Pete Osbourn but had no idea eimskip put he money in, sounds like you can’t keep the man down
An ever increasing number of British companies refuse to pay for parking these days so its not surprising that a cheap skate Dutch company who are renown for their dodgy ways and have flagged most of their fleet to Poland wont pay for parking either.
I stopped there a few times couple of years ago, always walked past the chippy to the pub, was a good meal for not much money.
Always had a post it note on the cab when I got back from Katie I think it was!

That does appear to be the case, from some of the posts on here.
Speaking as someone that used to run a small fleet a few years ago, I think it’s flicking disgusting that drivers are expected to take a ■■■■ in a carrier bag to save a few pounds.
Although, to be honest, I used to balk at paying for motorway services, but didn’t mind paying for truckstops.
By the way,who did you work for before you moved over there?
From you’re posts, I think you lived in the Grimsby area.

I used to work for Globepalm in Kirmington. I’m from New Holland.
Doesn’t stop him buying new scania’s and new fridges does it.
Koops drivers get there food sent over in the fridges to save them spending their hard earned beans on our over priced slop.
I’ll be over there late but will shower at Ulceby and then park for free somewhere.
