If only……

Try the A237 at Wallington railway station near Crawly, no signs except for the little 16ft sign as you get to the point of no return, not a road for turning round in or indeed ,I suspect, for 20 hours of the day one you can reverse away from with it being London.
I’m told some deckers are up to 16ft 2 these days……

Also in Crawley, you’ve got that St Mary drive 12’6" bridge that isn’t visible - until you pass the last chance to turn off into the Tesco Forecourt there. If there’s a Tanker in the waiting area there, you’re gonna struggle to turn a hightop around, which doesn’t look good if some bored manager decides to be watching your Isotrack progress at that particular moment, Eg. taking half an hour to U-turn back the way you came…

The main pitfall here - is that during the Summer months - that round sign on the left is completely obscured by trees/bushes

Not good if you’re on your maiden run in even a 7.5t thinking it isn’t that high…, let alone a DD or just about any other artic combination, come to that…

There appears to be low bridges un-marked, as happened to me, I took a wrong turn and ended up having to reverse, with the help of a kind car driver…

Turning left you come across this bridge…

Can’t these map apps - even be correct on the little things like “It is an Underbridge” rather than the OVERbridge it is marked on the map as? :frowning:

Some times the re routing on nights causes it,cheap sat navs can fail to alert drivers. But mostly it’s the tired over worked mind.
It’s my biggest fear tbh.

No excuse as RR States consult your bridge height map, too many idiots on the roads who plough on regardless we have to endure them everyday esp the new breed of brain dead driver

We have a store that is 100 yards away from a 15’9 bridge, for the first year after it opened they have used a standard trailer, now someone has decided its better to use the DD’s and route through another way.

I can’t help but wonder if someone will buckle up the curtains and pull out one day ‘the way we used to go’ as its familiar.

Sick of hearing sat nav’s being blamed for bridge strikes.

Every low bridge is marked. Sat nav’s don’t make you crash into a physical object. If you ■■■■ up and end up in front of one your can’t pass, just stop and get help.

Buffaload driver did the first bit right.
