Ibs and driving

Hey folks any drivers here suffer from ibs ? If so what do you find helps you get through the day ?

I’ve had IBS for years, but now I hardly suffer any symptoms at all, the answer for me was quite simple, eat as healthy a diet as you can, cut out all soft drinks and processed food, and don’t go anywhere near a fast food outlet.
If I have a fast food burger or suchlike now I’ll get the IBS symptoms back immediately.

A nice side effect was that I also lost 3.5st over the first 9 months of the new healthy regime.

I have Colitis (similar to ibs) but its not permanent, i just get flare ups every so often treated with an oral steroid for a few days. As the post above, keep to a good diet avoiding fatty processed foods like bacon and fried foods/ fast food , plenty of fruit and veg ect and you’ll keep flare ups to a minimum…

I went on 20mg a day of Nortriptolyne (spelling). I also changed my eating habits I normally started work at midday but never ate until well into the evening or even after work.
I’m off medication now apart from 2 buscopan if I get cramps.

No bacon? No fried food? No kebabs■■?

I have had IBS for years, just take loperamide caps, as and when needed, i don’t get stomach cramps often, as for food, i as yet have not identified foods that act as a trigger, I do however always try to park somewhere near access to a toilet

I know an ex driver who suffered with IBS, he ditched the drugs the doctor gave him and started taking CBD oil, which is cannabis oil with the part of the plant that gets a person high (THC) taken out.

Last time I saw him a few months back he was tucking into a fry up, he said he still uses the CBD oil, though not as much as he did and he can eat what he likes.

I have diverticulitis and have to watch what I eat, might check out this CBD oil lark

The wife has IBS and if she eats well she doesn’t have any issues, but one fry up and she is in ■■■■ state

Having to eat healthy is no bad thing anyway, all day breakfasts and all the other fried up cr@p some stops serve up is artery clogging heart attack stuff waiting to happen…

Vegetarians don’t live longer than meat eaters, it just feels like it…

I have it best thing i found was eat a healthy balanced diet and some exercise.Cut out all the ready meals and eat good fresh cooked food and cut down on the fizzy juice and coffee.

Cutting back on the coffee and cigs has helped me massively, I can only eat fish and chips if I’m not more than ten feet from a lavvy!

Stress is also another trigger

No humour intended honest but as I approach my 50th year (46 but on the way) I’ve started to suffer with certain foods.

For instance the other week I brought a pack of cocktail sausages as a treat with my usual plum tomatoe nibbles whilst cruising the country.

Now I munched on 3 of these delicious chipolatas and next thing the cramps started and I came very close to seriously letting myself down.
Not convinced it was just a little sausage that was causing me grief I nibbled some more. Yep same again, clenched to the max I just made the crapper.

I now avoid small sausages just in case.

Don’t drink that crap out those coffee machines is a good start , since I’ve stopped drinking it I feel 100% better
