Just a rant…
I hate London its crap for the last 3 working days I’ve been there delivering bath room suites. The attitude of people down there stinks no one wants to give way, and god forbid I have to hold up traffic to reverse down a side alley to get to a drop. Constant bloody jams and speed cameras everywhere. Another thing has anyone been to east ham recently?
I loved driving in London, especially in the central areas - I am probably the only one who does

Think you must be Rog, I’m the same as mknutjob, hate the bloody place and always will. In the past I have even turned jobs down that involved going there. No problems with anywhere else, but people there really have an attitude problem.
Better than a lot of other citys you just need to get in the right mind set and let them know your going anyway helps in a beat up truck

Definitely on your own with than one! lol
a truck full of dynomite might help…only joking…i lived in hounslow for 3 years whilst in army hated it, but i think its just the way london is, large city rush rush rush in the brain, but not in practice the only place i enjoyed visiting was camden. but as for driving there i hate it too.

Might be because I was born in the greater London area… but only lived there till I was 5
I did not like driving there in a car - hated it - but loved to in a truck

That’s why your good at it then ROG, you had a head start on the rest of us, whipping your pedal car around aged 5

Lots of us, myself included tell ourselves it’s going t be crap even before we arrive, I used to deliver office furniture on an 13.6 meter trailer on a Friday evening. The first time I did was to a building opposite St Paul’s cathedral, I hated it, I smoked a load of ■■■■ (gave up long ago) and got stressed right out. Second time in I began to enjoy it (if you can call it that) down the strand, past nelsons column, everyone driving like a bank robber. I ended up laughing at the craziness of the place, a true test of skill and patience no doubt.
I am with Rog on this one truck with auto yes, car and manual truck no, London is a doddle with an auto.

But you live in Leicester ROG, not much difference,
Dodgy road systems and the attitude is the same,
NB: Other dodgy cities are available.

Some say that’s what the Luftwaffe found even flying above the zb place when they tried to ‘redevelop’ it and that’s why they gave up and went to Russia instead because they thought it would be easier there. But when they took the Berlin wall down we should have brought it here and put it on the Surrey border to keep them out.
I always thought London was a walled city…
Shame they ran out of bricks.

I wouldn’t say I love it, but I do find driving in London an interesting technical exercise. More interesting than pounding up and down motorways!
I used to throw my teddies right out the pram when I got told to go there. All the drivers did. In the end there was a rota type system set up so it was all fair.
went there once in a truck,NW something…was on for gbe at the time…a tilt full of handballed fruit of the loom t shirts…eventually found the place… a house with a big garage,he’d hired 2 guys to unload it all…sat in cab for 5 hours, lol…then couldnt get out at end of street…had to back up into side street, then go out the way i came in…in a left ■■■■■■ i might add…i did it…no disasters,i felt pretty good after that …glad to get on the m27 though…lol…
yeah its cack i have to go there three times a week to do a multi drop round and the standard of driving from our foreign cousins in harrow is terrible. that is the one place i hate the most
The place is full of immigrants with no idea how to drive, mums in 4x4s with no idea how to drive, every other kind of ■■■■■■ in a car with no idea how to drive, but so is every other city in the country, I’m from London, I don’t feel the need to whine & ■■■■■ about other cities, nor do you get many, if any, posts from Londoners moaning about Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow blah blah blah, so whats the big deal with London? Maybe as a native I’m immune to it, I actually enjoy running through the middle of London, like ROG, in my case especially at rush hour, the crumpet is worth sitting in traffic
if you are talking about running about the city round by the bank and up to holborn and such like. then i love that so many pretty women
I hate driving an artic in London because I actually know it quite well, used to do courier work, mainly in the City, but all over London. In a Merc van it’s a piece of p***, but what I always thought about was ‘what if I had to bring the artic down here?’ Like an obscure mews off of Oxford Street on a Friday afternoon, collecting ‘personal possessions’ or whatever names the container people used for a removal job! Getting sworn at by everybody, moaned at by everybody and wondering if your guvnor has actually got the permit to go in there on a Friday afternoon? Moaned at by dowager Duchess’s because she can’t get her motor past! Or squeasing into one of those sweat shop places down Commercial Street/Road or City Road, places that were built for a horse and cart! Made Stratford LIFT almost a pleasure, even the salmonella hut!
For me I think it’s the fear of the KNOWN rather than the UNKNOWN as I’ve driven through the guts of most of our major cities, Brum, Manc, Glasgow, Edinb, L’pool, N’castle, but the one place I hated almost as much as London was Leicester! Sorry to all those that live there but the place does need bombing and started again! The pains are coming back just thinking about the place, and Derby ain’t too hot either except the cattle market and the pub there, many a night getting plastered to forget!
