Do you all have the new HUT stickers ? Every truck used to have them, when I first started driving here they were always orange and divers who drove at nights would make fake ones from orange reflective sticky paper, NY DOT soon got wise tho that and they changed to yellow, then it seems everyone forgot them, in fact for about 5 years nobody bothered with them, I actually ran untill this year without one and nothing was mentioned even at DOT inspections. Suddenly this year HUT stickers are back and are purple, I was handed one for every truck under my control and issued them, I asked why ? as in all the years driving here no check had ever been made and it seems it’s only in fact a NY state thing. Friday morning as I drove up 87 north and got to Clifton Park I was pulled in by DOT, I drove into the coned off area and switched off everything, looking in the mirror I saw the cop walking toward me… “You’re all set driver, I didn’t see your HUT sticker when you pulled in but just noticed it, so on your way” he said.
There’s a warning to you all, make sure you have a HUT sticker before you head for the Empire state.

as in our road tax disc?? if so is this on top of the annual road tax (nationally) or are different states rated individally ? hope this makes sense
I’ve had mine about 4-6 weeks now. When I came to Canada in 2009 alot of the older trucks on the fleet I worked at had them but I thought they were a thing of the past until confronted with the bloody eyesore of a thing that now stands out like a sore thumb on the front of the truck.
They are only really required for NY state from what I gather, the cost about $250 per truck, it’s just another way to make a bit more cash , as if we don’t pay enough ?
Syramax … The equivilent of the tax disc is the registration document, in most states it is a sticker in the windshield although some states do not require you display one. … Even more money, our car registration sticker cost a couple of hundred every time it’s renewed.
