Anyone been to Hungary recently and paid the tolls.
I have been told I can buy them online prior to arriving or buy them at the border.
Any suggestions??
It’s a few years since I’ve been to Hungary, but last time I went they’d just introduced the toll system, registered online and selected the route before I went, I seem to remember it being a quite a straight forward process. I also think they have terminals on the border and in various service stations.
The link Inselaffe posted will be you starting point.
Yep. Go to the 1st services at the border. Same as German more or less. REG, AXLES, EMISSIONS CLASS, ENTRY AND EXIT POINTS. Job done.
Theres a blue 20ft container at the border at nickelsdorf. Last time i only needed to tell them the reg, and euro class. They also dont accept swiss francs.
It can also be done online apparently.
Thanks for the info.
Will report how successful I am …
Thanks for the help and advice.
In case anyone else is going through.
At the border there is a portakabin.
Go in and enter your truck details and full destination address into the console.
Print the ticket and give it to the cashiers.
They only take cash or Bank cards. ( No fuel cards).
They print you out a two foot long reciept and off you go.
Apparently it can be done online, but it sometimes is nice to be the idiot englishman in the office.

Which border crossing was that?
Last year at nickelsdorf i paid with my shell fuel card no problems.

Went throuhg the Nickledorf/Heygeshalom crossing.
Offered them EuroTotal and DKV and she said No.
She asked for Visa.
Coming out last night went into the first services from Budapest.
Little console in the filling station.
Filled in details . It prints you out another 18" long ticket.
Go to the cash desk and pay.
Always fun to learn a toll system. At least the GO box for Austria is better than the old ECO Points system
