How Working Time for truckers could have been

The above YouTube clip is from a documentary about what would happen when the Road Transport working time regulations were implemented in 2005.

Note: The regulation implemented the directive in 2005.

The Video shows the fears the industry had with the forthcoming 48 hour limit

Drivers and operators feared the reduction in hours as a costly burden.
One driver comments with the implementation of the new limits it would benefit drivers by improving wages and enhancing safety.
I believe most drivers would admit that although the regulations were brought into force no reduction in duty times followed and wages never improved.
Hours actually increased as evasion and avoidance became the norm.
Great video about what could have been.

Only because some git invented POA to get round the reduction, would never of happened if the majority of drivers were in a union.
