I’ve had my license for just under 5 years, I did it the new way with the 2 modules covering CPC training and got a CPC card with 5 years.
Now I’m approaching my CPC expiry. I’m an agency driver and I’ve got to sort it all out myself. But I’m confused as to how to do it (or am overthinking it)
I’ve been on the gov website and it points you to jaupt.org.uk/
Am I just to book myself on 5 random courses (7 hours each) and accumulate 35 hours? Or do I have to make sure they fall into particular modules?
There are a few in my area, but the information is very limited.
Look around for the cheapest courses and book them.
You can do any courses you want, you can even do the same course 5 times if you want to.
Make sure the courses are JAUPT approved or they won’t count towards the DCPC.
If you intend to get extra qualifications such as class 1, ADR, FLT, Moffat ec’t you may be able to kill 2 birds with one stone as long as the course is JAUPT approved.

Sorry to add on to the question.
But worse case, I don’t manage to get my 35 hours before the expiry of my current CPC. Do I simply stop working until I do get my 35 hours and a new CPC or does it get more complicated?
It doesn’t get anymore complicated, you just complete the 35 hours periodic training the same as you do if you complete them before the expiry of your current DQC.

Stop working until you have 35 hours.
And, AFAIK, you need to have the card in hand before driving. nidirect.gov.uk/articles/dr … driver-cpc
You can do any CPC day, module, subject, as and when suits you.
One thing to ask the provider…is the upload (Telling Gov that you have done the 7 hours required) included in the price. It’s not alot, last time i looked it was about 12 quid a time. but…time 5…ok, still cheap
If you choose the cheapest you may end up bored outta your skull for 5 days. Some trainers are better than others, and some courses more useful and interesting. Although you have to do this, it doesn’t have to be a waste of time/money although it can be.
As Tacho says, if you are considering going for extra tickets consider doing that as part of CPC training.
Just do an ADR course whoch is CPC approved and fet 4 of your 5 days worth plus an extra qualification plus it’ll keep your brain awake.
Personally I’d do it with Peter Smythe (see new driver forum) as I did that with him and the training guy is very good, plus its a COC registered course.
It might help us to help you if you can indicate where in the uk you are (county/city), then we maybe able point you in the direction of suitable providers who provide courses at a reasonable cost. Off the top of my head I’m aware JM Trucking based near Immingham run cheap courses at Immingham and Barnsley at £35 a go inc tea/coffee and upload, you just bring sandwiches etc, I did mine with a couple of firms around Doncaster at £80 a pop.
I’d also suggest creating an account on the government DCPC website so you can check the number of hours accredited as you accrue them, then once you complete the 5th module the system automatically issues you with another card
