Going by the vote I think there will be a big shortage of experianced drivers in ten years time !!!I think so too. It seems that the vast majority of drivers are in their late forties or early fifties, with very little new blood coming through.
In the words of The Stranglers, “Something Better Change” because that stuff sure won’t walk to Tesco on its own.
I’d say theres already a lack of good or experienced drivers, certainly where i live anyway.

Harry Monk:
We’re told the average age of an HGV/LGV driver is early fifties, so I was interested in seeing whether the demographic is the same on TruckNet or whether the technology factor makes the average age younger. When there have been a few votes I’ll do a calculation of average age.For the record, I’m 53.
Haven’t visited this thread for a while. From the votes data… it appears that there is a near perfect distribution (graph) curve…which would support the suggested average age of wagon drivers. Nice.
I was going to say the same thing. A perfect bell graph.
Of course it demonstrates that most drivers (87%) are between 30 and 60 years old - which is pretty much what you would expect.
