HOW MUCH ???

is it costing to upgrade the M6 to “managed motorway” between the M42 split and J11A ■■?
Would it not be cheaper to buy back the M6 toll motorway and then scrap the toll charge, so that everyone would then use it and avoid the Birmingham area ?
Or have our successive governments got their heads so far up a rear orifice that they can’t even think of it.■■?

it won’t matter :open_mouth: they’ll make it up with fines! :unamused: Governmint■■? They’re that thick :bulb: no one would of thought of that! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

a part of the reason that the m6 toll isnt used as much as everyone would like is the fact that it goes the wrong side of Birmingham. It should have gone around Wolverhampton and down past to meet the m5 / m42 intersection.

they could still do that and make it go right round brum, just like the M25 round That London.

£170 Million

They are looking at making more roads privatised

LMAO

I hate the M6 near Brm’ always have & always will, full of impatient Brummys, & narrow lanes at the moment (designed to Pee truck drivers off, I’m sure they are only 7’6" wide & my lorry is 8ft)
A lot of locals decide to leave it till the last minute before turning off at J6/Spaghetti that causes traffic to back up for miles :imp:
Having said all that, I still would’nt use that Poxy Expensive Revenue Generating Toll road out of principle, don’t we pay enough in Road Tax,Insurance Tax,Fuel Tax,Tyre Tax, Oil Tax, Servicing Tax, VAT Tax etc,etc TAX, TAX, TAX, how many more ways can our Money Grabbing (Parasitic, Expense Fiddling, Do not what I do-Do what I say) Government think of to remove all our wealth. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ! :unamused:

:bulb: Why don’t they just take all our Net Pay & leave us with the Tax & National Insurance part of it, then we’d all be poor (even the tax dodging Bankers & MP’s) :smiley:

£170 Million

thats just 10a to 13… so try to work out the cost for all of it down to 3a

Quick calculation-
J10A-J13 =approx 10miles = £17 million per mile-- total £170 million
16km = £10.6 million p/km

J3A-J13 = approx 45miles = £17 million per mile–total £765 million (or 3/4 BILLION)
72km = £10.6 million p/km

If you look at it in km, sounds like you get more for you money :unamused:
But don’t worry, the Toll road must be taking at least £26.50 a day (co’s no one uses it) so it will only take about 300 million years to pay for it !

The problem if you go south on the m6 toll is that you still get stuck in traffic when you hit the m42 and then crawl up toward Corley at peak times. It makes the whole point of using the toll road a bit pointless as you will get stuck anyway.

Doesn’t matter how many roads they build, if you constantly increase the population of an already overcrowded island then traffic will grind to eventual gridlock.

You all voted for this and most will do so again.

Very true, if im not tipping around brum i just use the m1 and a50, same milage but saves a huge amount of time.

Can you not see a pattern here ? When all this upgrading has finished the only thing you,ve got to worry about is which is cheaper the M6 or M6toll because you ,ll be paying tolls on both. If you think that all this work is being done out of the goodness of the goverments heart you must still believe in the tooth fairy. The next " upgrading " will be the A14 round Huntingdon they have already spent millions on surveys ect and apart from the fact that at the moment they have one big problem on that stretch namely, the bridge over the river has a weight limit on it of 48 tons it would already be " upgraded " then it all goes into private hands ,weight limits are put on all alternative routes ( except for access or local traffic ) a little black box (pay as you go) goes into each vehicle and the new owners ( goverment ) sit back and count the pennies. Keep your eyes and ears open in the next 5 to 10 years.

It does but in peak times you will find more and more that there is congestion at the m1 end of it and also the Stoke end is becoming a tad busy, especially from around the A500 / A50 junction through the Mere tunnell.

A nice fly over onto the m1 south from the a50 would be nice.
