How much overhang?

How much overhang can you have on the rear of your trailer? I’ve a 40’ on and have 7’ overhang. I’ve put markers up and put a beacon on too it’s not wide just long.
I just don’t know the official stance on ■■■■ things

Feet about hip width, knees slightly bend and hands on hips seems to work best for me…

7 foot ? a marker board is all that’s required (lit at night) - no need for a beacon- enough folks using them for no reason as it is

Just go steady if travelling through West Yorkshire plod area as they’re not too clever with the regulations on overhanging loads!

Tried to do me for incorrect markings and I had to have a morning in Wakefield Magistrates court teaching them the error of their ways!

It used to be 3 feet, but times change. I find it odd that a 40 foot box would give you 7 feet of overhang, so it looks like you got a 33 foot trailer, tell the boss not to be so bloody tight, and get a proper trailer, thank god you never picked up a 45 footer.

Yeah maybe your right, but i dont think ive seen a 40 trailer with such an overhang as the majority of outfits would be legal with just a trailer on, so i assumed ( maybe wrongly ) he was talking about a 40 box its getting late and ive had a beer or two.
