Good to see you back on here BJ , a self imposed absence or was Rikki the Hun over doing his welcome again ? Let’s not start the todger waving but
Average 12 days - 3 weeks out at a time.
Anything from 5 ~ 12 days, I prefer less than 7 if possible as I get bored…

For fly sheet it depends how long he wants to spend ice skating. He is trying to get maximum value from his $5 ice skates.

Pretty much my choice within reason how long my truck is parked before I go out again but I usually have 2 - 4 days off only.
Typically 2-3 weeks out and 2-3 days off at the end. My current job is a great life on the road, I do some superb milleage, hardly ever wait around and see some amazing places but social life is understandably non-existant.
Last month I was home every Friday before dark and left again Sunday evenings, until the last week of the month, when I finished Tuesday night and went back Sunday evening, got back home again just after lunch today (Friday)
Put 14,500miles under the bumper in October, so considering I was off every weekend I didn’t hang around when I was at work, but I pay more in tax than BJ grosses in a week, so that puts it into perspective, my job is full of big days and nights (which earn me extra) and that’s how I like it, leisurely 3 week trips out are ok, but I work to live, not live to work, I’m over the honeymoon period now and want to spend as much time at home as possible, so I fill my log book every day I can when I’m out on the road and spend my time off at home, not dosssing around in truckstops. That’s my choice, I’m not in it for the craic, I’m a greedy money grabbing barsteward and proud of it
Forty-two trips so far this year, so that’s about 1 a week. Thirty-six hours off and then go again.
Can’t stay at home; out numbered by Searcy drivers, four to two. 230,378 km since 1st jan 2012.
“The man who loves his job never works a day in his life”. Confucius.
I usually leave Sunday morning and get home early Saturday with 70 hours in. Usually 4000 to 4300 miles per trip. But then I’m home a week between trips as I work 7 on 7 off.
At KSW, before my wife died, I was usually home 1 or 2 days per week.
Reading some of these posts I believe BJ has the best job, home every night and paid by the hour.
Did my stint of away 2 -3 weeks and home 34 hours if lucky and it nearly destroyed my family, Did up to 3 months away doing show work in the UK and Europe and that DID destroy my family there. I usually leave home Monday morning and am home by Friday evening or earlier and even that is too unsociable for my liking.
Looked into doing OTR or regional work, but Im soft and like my own bed and creature comforts. As for waiting for deliveries or pickups, i get paid by the hour, so i dont care if im sat waiting for an hour or two (managers may not like me doing that though).
I just gave up doing OT on Saturdays, as I like to have time off work to spend with my wife / friends.
My day starts at 5am and somedays im still there at 6pm. I dont have to fiddle any logbooks (no logbooks as im a city driver ).
Fedex is a great company to work for, excellent benefits with 90% coverage for most things (drugs are free after $1500 iirc). Company pension after a year service which is vested after 2 years with company (we pay 3% of weekly pay and company pays 6%). my current hourly rate is $24.44 with 2.5% increase every 6 months. when i hit 5 years service i get an automatic $4 or $5 hourly pay increase (at 3 years now). time and half after 8 hours and DT after 12 hours or 60 hrs a week. Night shift premium of $0.50 / hour. Public holidays off.
As for my abstinence from here, it was self imposed. Didnt like the way it was moving about a year ago. seems to have cooled off and returned to the good old TN i used to enjoy
