Interested to know who has done what. I’ve done the last two Saturdays and I’m doing next Saturday but am already losing the will to live so, having broken the back of it will do the last two days in 2024.
We all know your pain Harry.
None…
I’m hoping that the rumoured 1 day course will be rolled out and I can fall asleep during that.
I might not even bother at all and let the whole thing slide.

I was tempted to, my current DCPC expires a week before my 65th birthday, had they not raised my retirement age to 66 I wouldn’t have bothered. Even then I thought about just spending my last year on the vans. It’s only the fact that I don’t have to pay for it and that I could do it via Zoom from home that pushed me over that precipice.

I have to…
Fund the ■■■■ thing outta my own pocket and that really really ■■■■■. I’m guessing that I’ve forked out over a grand now if you total it all up over the years.
Mutter mutter grumble.

I’m sure you can claim it back of tax if you pay it yourself.

That’s an…
Interesting point I hadn’t considered.
The problems I can see with that are, I haven’t kept any receipts for the hours I’ve paid at various places over the years. I’m not the sharpest tool in the box and I’d need someone to claim it back on my behalf. They’d no doubt swallow 30% or what ever of the allowance I might be entitled to. In short I reckon (and I’d be happy to be proved wrong) I end up with about 8 quid in my bin.
2 modules left to do I think without checking so got to grin and bear it twice next year. DOH.

Did one last week even though the company are binning us all off at Chrimbo and didn’t want to pay for it. Luckily the union forced their hand, which leaves me with only one to do.
I’ll shortly start my search for a man
a pub car park
and a brown envelope.
During the pandemic lockdown I sat all 35hrs on zoom with that Scottish firm that everyone was banging on about at the time, so I effectively had 4 years of the current period + 35hrs for the next 5 years, which should see me up to retirement, so hopefully I will never have to sit through this again
I’ve sat through 3, could have got my 4th this weekend…just want to get it all over asap…no ■■■■ interest.
But I was told that Saturdays course was one I’d already done,.and now you cant do the same one twice anymore.
So thank you to all the gullible drivers who have been taken in when being told that it is a genuine entity and believing it, rather than what it is, ie… A pr ‘‘being seen to be doing something’/money making excercise’,.who then gobbed off about doing the same one twice,.resulting in the powers that be moving the goalposts
So now I reckon by the same token we can all soon look forward to a full exam scenario coming soon because of the same drivers gobbing off.
As for doing the same one twice…I’d do 5 ■■■■ dog grooming courses just to get it all done if they qualified…waste of ■■■■ time, and deffo a waste of otherwise days off.
Walks away shaking head.
None as I’ve retired, Happy days , let the ADR lapse , tacho card run out , wots a truck again ?
i need to do one more to get another 5 yrs entitlement , however locally they are asking £70 for a one day course. as im not the brightest button in the box regards computers i am unsure of the on line alternative at roughly half the price .

Trust me, if you’re computer literate enough to post here then you’re computer literate enough to do an on line DCPC
Well, I have accrued “nul point”
My CPC expires in Sept 24, but I’ll be 70 in Jan 24, so it’s a bit of a risk to pay all that money, and I might die before I get value for my money,( which is never)
What to do? I’ll see how I get on with my next medical before I decide. I’ve picked up some very good work in the last few months which looks as though it will continue, and there’s still a bit of life left in the old Scania, which was bought for cash 7 years ago, so I suppose I should keep going and feeding it back to my grown up kids in order that they can afford mortgage deposits.
(They did 5 years at university and got good, useful degrees, Maths, Engineering etc, but in this mad world, I still make a lot more money than they do)
The Old dog for the hard road, by the looks of it.

Have a module booked for Jan24 so may as well do it as paid full shift wages for same!!! Lol

Yeah,.and that is part of the problem I have with all this CPC crap.
My lot also do in house, but we dont get paid for it,.and it’s in otherwise free time not work time.
In actual fact my shift includes a part day Saturday,.so in my case it actually is in work time.
Some might say why should they pay you for it,.but the way I see it is the good companies (such as yours who value their drivers )do it, so the crappy ones (such as mine who.don’t ) should follow suit.
If the job/industry was any good, the time should be considered ‘other work’ as part of drivers hours, then they would have to pay us for it.

That’s one of my “bug-bears” in the industry too,
drivers SHOULD be paid for attending CPC training AND said training paid by company.
Do yaa reckon they are many Unionised company drivers actually have to reach into own pockets to pay for CPC■■?
Guess be few/far between!!!
