How long?

Can anyone tell me, how long it takes from central Edinburgh to Inverness. In an artic? Thanks

You’d be lucky to do it in a 4.5hr stint…

Depending on getting out of Edinburgh…good run should see you well under 4 hours. Mind you, depends on your attitude to the speed limit!

Ignore bawsack. Take your time and stick to the limits. Lots of cameras and keen traffic plods along the way.

Thanks, will be leaving early hours Sunday, so shouldn’t be to much traffic.

Should get up there in 3.5-4 hours at that time. Nice drive. What is it with all these Highland trips lately? You buggers trying to make the rest of us feel jealous? Well it’s working!

Takes me 5.15 hrs drive time from Carlisle to Inverness, so from Edinburgh you should do it in your 4.5hrs easily.

As you descend about 2 miles from Dunkeld there is a scamera als near the Blair Atholl junction,I was done there doing 60 in a 7.5.tonner at 04.10 A.M. so just take it easy.I would think that you could do it in the one hit.

so I say under 4 hours and you tell the op to ignore me. Then you decide it’s possible in under 4! Strewth. For the record I wasn’t implying that was a flat out speed. You can do Lockerbie to inverness in about 4 and a half, so I was suggesting under 4 from Edinburgh was leisurely.

As for jealousy, some of us do the highlands regularly!

You will probably meet a few of D Steven’s Fish Wagons north of Perth heading south give them a shout they will let you know if there are any Hazards on the road.

Careful now laddie…I’m the smugness mod here and you’re straying close to the line! Take this as a friendly chat…this time! :grimacing:

I will be moving a theatre show up there from Edinburgh. I can see them sitting me there for the week, before taking it down to Dartford.
I can feel some paid sight seeing coming on!

i wouldnt say 2 speed cameras and 2 apnr cameras and 4 traffic scotland cameras are a lot and most of the plods wont bother you at 50mph but they might bother you at 40mph if your generating too much traffic behind you and not letting them pass

the scamera at dunkeld has a loop in the road so detects a truck and has been known too have trucks at 46mph, however the one at bankfoot is tucked behind a sign but i’v been past it at 50 n never had a ticket

Southbound I take it very steady by the one at killiekrankie. As said the one northbound at dunkeld too.

Watch out for mobile cameras, but channel 19 is well used by most drivers.

Traffic police…on one particular downhill stretch you can run on for quite a way at well over the speed. One day I was knocking on, nothing coming northbound so kept over to the left and flicked the indicator. Now with a loaded chipliner you are never sure what’s behind you…any way out comes a big marked car. I ■■■■ myself but as they came past I got a wave off the passenger.

Moral of the story, make progress, cause no hindrance, then PC plod let you be.
