24 years 3 months and 16 days Thatcher was the P.M I had a shock of thick black curly hair and arms like tree trunks.

And knew everything and nothing.

Class 2 - February 2005 and Class 1 - March 2005, so 8 and a bit years.

I’d just turned 26 and I jumped in at the deep end driving Class 1 straight away. Never stopped since and I still mostly love it.

So according to this poll viewtopic.php?f=2&t=91231 and the how long have you had your licence poll the average driver on here is mid to late 40’s with 0 to 5 yrs experience, does that tell you anything or not ?

Yeah… They chose to get their class one as a middle aged crisis. :open_mouth: …They should have bought a bmw convertable and dyed their hair red instead

1 week lol

passed class 1 in 1975. 38 years ago.

I’m 35 and this year is my 16th year on the road as a driver, started on buses. Passed C & C+E within a couple of weeks of turning 21 and I still love the job as much as I did the first day, maybe even more so. Its the best job in the world to me.

started as a van lad at 16, first big lorry i ever rode in never even had a radio, drove vans for a while passed class 3 1979 class 1 1985, enjoyed the job then still do now, getting near to retirement soon, really not looking forward to it, retired old truck drivers don’t seem to last long.

33 years HGV1, 37 years car and 33 years motorcycle. And after all that time I just about hate driving now. Too many rules and regs, too many cars and far too many brain dead once a year motorway drivers that have no clue.

I’m 33 had my car 16 years, cat D 14 years cat C 9 years and my +E 7 years.

I’m 33, had my car & 7.5 since dec 1996, class 2 since april 06 & class 1 since oct 07, both done thru the company thankfully as it’s stupidly expensive now

38 years and with the exception of my last 3 years in England doing exhibition and show work (F1 and other racing etc) I hate every minute of it and wish I had never taken my HGV in the first place.
