this mate of yours sounds desperate, cant you get him a licence from Romania
If you have a dd conviction try getting a Canadian work permit.
I’m going through the process of getting de criminalised by the Canadian authority’s for a. Dd that is over five years old and it’s quite involved and time consuming then once that is ok you have to find a company to sponsor you for a TWP.
well where I worked they paid you bi-weekly or( fortnightly) to us, so at the end of the third week , I got the first 2 weeks pay, I was on the road 10 days after landing, so say four/half weeks.

…and you’ll never get a FAST card to enter the U.S.,which can limit your options drastically.
I have that bit sorted I have a USA b1 b2 visa so entering the USA isn’t a problem

Well straight away because the company bringing you over on an LMO has to refund you the cost of the flight etc. But like has already been said it all depends on how quickly you pass the tests and get on the road. From the big group of us here in New Brunswick I hold the record for the quickest time. From the day I landed to my first day behind the wheel earning was 9 days. That was merely luck though, my written tests were booked well in advance by the company and I did those the day after I arrived in Canada and they got a quick road test due to a cancellation. Other drivers I know have taken anything up to 6 or even 8 weeks due to failing various parts of the tests and having to wait for another test date etc.

How many of you over there from here have a FAST card for The US?
I think remembering back I was rolling within a fortnight, it was that 5 days orientation that was the bummer, all tests passed licence in hand chomping at the bit then 5 days in a classroom going mad…

I dont have one. I’m fed up of bending over backwards just trying to get in to the US. Companies have asked me to apply for one, my reaction is always ‘no thanks!’. I’ve been here almost three years now and its never put me at the slightest disadvantage for gaining work.

I have a FAST card and it is required by the company I work for because we do carry FAST loads and hazmat and in those cases your visa wont suffice
