maybe I am missing the point is it VOSA or Highways Agency you would want to work for?
Traffic Officers are Highways agency who patrol the motorways in 4x4
Vosa drive around in galaxys and do not attend RTC’s on motorways.
Highways works directly for the crown, VOSA work for Department for Transport.
Discoman, you are partly correct.Both VOSA and Highways Traffic Officers work for the Department of Transport and both have Crown vehicles, look at the lack of tax disc on them. British Transport Police have expressed an interest to take over HATOs and the enforcement (the Galaxys) side of VOSA. The East Region womble control centre is both a HATO and VOSA site. Hope this clarifys them both

I knew my mate still works for the HA. in the SE region, I agree that SM the east RCC is the home of VOSA and HA but they are seperate entities completely … Vosa do not have the same power as the HA and vice versa, I cant see the BTP taking over the HA as the HA do not do enforcement.
They have the powers to stop traffic etc, and the Lord Hansard committe gave them powers to change the rules when required but to do the Law enforcement side of it i believe it would have to go through the goverment again, they are not even allowed blue light break the speed limit etc. do we really want them doing law enforcement on the motorways as I would see a lot more fines being handed out etc.
I am aware of the disc even the Prison Service have tax exemption etc.
