if you send it to me i will have a look, you need to also send a new 4 gig sd card for the truck stuff. no promises and stuff.i will do my best. you of course pay return postage of about £6.
i dont want anything for doing it but neither do i want slagging off if i cant repair it,

i bought a tomtom 720 off ebay with tt trucks on it…last night when altering settings i hit the x4 button by mistake…the one at the end of the preferences with x1,x2,x3,x4.it re booted but when you tap the screen it just has 6 triangles with no writing underneath…it still has the last route in it ,ive tried resetting it but it just comes back to the triangles then routes the last route…tried taking the sd card out of it an the same as above happens…how do i reboot the tt from the disc he gave me■■? i ve put the tt on the computer but its not being recognized by the computer…any help would be really appreciated…even if you live near chester an i could pop it to you there would be a few pints in it for someone…i very close to drop kicking the ■■■■■■■ thing through the window
What is on the disc that came with the Tom Tom mate ?
Is it a back up of all the TT files?
I may be able to help, if a cant I think there is a guy called " GETZ" on here that will definitely help you.
ye on the disc it has everything on…my computer wont recognize the tt
Can you copy the contents of the cd to a folder on your desktop?
Another thing to do is turn your device off , connect via USB then switch it back on and it should recognise it as another drive .

What you said about connecting to computer should do it.
If you cannot connect it to computer then you have a real problem.
try pressing the on/off button for 30+ plus seconds and that should make it do a hard restart like when you reboot a computer.When you do that you may see all the unit info on screen,press the button again and it should start as normal. dont have the sd card in when doing it.

if you get it working make a backup of all the files using windows not tomtom home.

Doing it this way Gezt, is that like resetting it to factory defaults and will it clear the memory, favourites and POI?
If so that is what I need to do with the one i sold my mate, he is complaining that it is very slow to find an address.
Also can I use the original UK / Europe SD card in another type of Tom Tom device
yep you can use it in another unit but you have to patch it to that unit.
use that auto activate to do it and it should be ok

that patches the navcore to the unit id number thats why you can’t just take it out of one and pop it into another unit, it’s not possible to change/alter remove the unit id number either.
when doing a hard reset it lose’s all the old stuff like favourites etc
best way to solve this problem is to make a new poi category and then copy that folder to your computer,install/reset the maps etc and paste that file into the map folder.
