Hi.
31 Years old and been suffering from continence problems over the past few years, going 25-30 times a day. As you’d imagine it doesn’t make life easy on the road when you need to pee every few minutes.
Just back from hospital after quite a large operation to sort the problems out and with any luck within the next 8 weeks or so I should be sorted and back on the road. I’ve been driving on agency for the past few years but will be moving to Northampton with the family and hope to find some full time work, or at least agency when we move up in March.
Question: I’ll need further surgery, but hopefully not for the next 12 months or so. Should I be honest with perspective employers, which I imagine will knacker the chances of being hired or should I pretend that all is fine and just wait and see what happens and pretend the problem is a new one when I have to go back in for surgery.
I do my job well and have never let the waterworks problem get in the way of work or make me a less efficient driver than anyone else. The only reason for asking is that when I need the next op, I’ll be off work for around a month and there is nothing to say that it will be the end of the problems, they could continue for years to come or forever.
Would be particularly intersted to hear if any drivers have been honest about health problems and still been successfully hired.
Thanks,
Paul.
