It comes from the days when a driver parked up at the front blocking another driver who wanted to get going,when he told the driver to shift his wagon,he told him to “sling your hook”,he did and it’s stayed there to this day! 
is it not to save the carpark attendant having to find dead drivers in there cabs who commited suicide by not being able to take any more multiple user names trolling posts and topping themselfs in the cab overnight?
by using the hook,its a quick call,and the ambulance just loads them straight from the hook after cutting the rope.
i think on the coroners report for cause of death it reads…drivvled to death.
