It is advised to have one to cover any periods you have not got tachograph evidence for

Is there anywhere I can download a sample one and edit it myself? Don’t think the guy I’m going to be workin for is goin to supply me with any

You don’t need one for weekends off,

However, no form of any type shall be requested concerning ordinary daily or weekly rest periods.

When you head out on sat night after only coming in from an 8 day trip sat morning and you havnt time to take a 45, then you obviously need it to show that you have in fact just had 8 days off!!

You don’t need one for weekends off,

Mobility and transport - European Commission

However, no form of any type shall be requested concerning ordinary daily or weekly rest periods.

Correct, you don’t need one for weekends off. BUT, it’s a simple thing to print it off and it’s by no means simple to persuade a Gendarme that he’s wrong.
If you fail to convince the Gendarme, you’ll have to pay and then get your money back.

Yes pay the court deposit at the road side when they know most foreigners will not come back to challenge it and have their day in court, plus the language barrier and hiring a translator and some legal beagle that is knowledgable in all aspects of road transport law that will back you up and lighten your pockets of money.

Fair point but due to the nature of my job, I always need loads of Letters of Attestation, and I have to do them for me and any other drivers, I’ll also be loading the truck, sorting out other last minute problems and if other team member are driving cars abroad I’ll be making sure that the cars are equipped with all the emergency kit required and they have all the paperwork they need.

This of course would be easier if the people I work with understood that you need these things if you’re stopped abroad and didn’t think that if I’m sat at a computer I must be skiving. :imp:

Of course probably due to the nature of my job, when I am stopped by any of the authorities abroad, the last thing they’re interested in is looking at my Tachograph and other paperwork, :open_mouth: they’re much more interested in having a look at the cars I’m carrying or blagging a cap or T’shirt. So as well as sorting out paperwork and loading trucks I also make sure I’m carrying a bit of swag in the cab.
